Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
very curious about that.
Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
In a few hours of tinkering around in Umbra and Abyss, I didn't run out of any choice mats. That's the good news as I harvested something like 2k mats or so.
The bad is that a friend swears they ran out of something else.

Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
It looks like Choice mats are fixed. They deplete like normal and return like normal (weather permitting of couse). However, Excellent and Supreme mats still show up w/ no blue bar after being depleted. So they're half way there!
Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
I thought that choice mats are not weather dependant - only exc/supremes are. Am i wrong?

Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
Yes -- only when it comes to PR, though. PR ranges from choice to supreme, and weather affects the availability of everything (except mission mats).
Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
Heh - got one exception to that - the mission mat Average Large Thorn can only be found during the winter in the southeast area of the island FH is on.aelvana wrote:Yes -- only when it comes to PR, though. We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion....

Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
This is how it seems to work:
Choice materials can be harvested with any quality level (i think) but i didnt try anything below q60.
Excellent materials can only be harvested if you're digging for q100 or higher.
Supreme materials require an even higher quality level. i am guessing 150 but i dont have a stanza that high to test it out.
Until you reach a higher level it is best to harvest choice using a quality stanza 10 lvls greater than your PR forage lvl. i.e. if your PR forage is lvl 51, use q60 extraction. If your stanza is too high your forage action is a lot more likely to fail and you will fail to catch the material or spoil the quality.
One way to lvl up faster is to use a reliable quality level with your extraction that wont spoil or fail for half of the dig, then when material your are extracting reaches its maximum quality switch stanzas to one that is 20q-30q higher. If you do it right you will be able to pull slightly higher quality and get more experience per dig. I got 2495 exp from one dig using this method. a lot of it depends on luck though.
One remaining bug i have noticed is that some excellent sources will pop up when you prospect for them, but the source content is 0... so you can dig and dig as much as you want from the source and get nothing out of it...
if this happens i usually look in the same spot for choice materials to dig. i think sometimes the excellent mats will pop up properly with different weather conditions or during a different season.

Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
Fastest way to level PR is to find a friend forager that is at least high enough to gather supreme, then CP for them until you are at least level 100 PR forager.
I know some people think this is powerleveling foraging. But concidering the cost of failure in PR affects EVERYONE for weeks on end...I can't ethically "practice" in the roots until I get it right. (my ethics are against harming others, and this clearly would harm others...so, for me, it is CP to 100, or...stay out.)

I've been gathering choice mats without depleting sources for several weeks now. I even get some excellent from time to time. This method of course is much slower I'm sure than most of the powerlevelers who play the game. It's impossible to stop players from "twinking" and "powerleveling" in these games.lyrah68 wrote:Fastest way to level PR is to find a friend forager that is at least high enough to gather supreme, then CP for them until you are at least level 100 PR forager.

Re: Anyone knows if PR sources have been fixed?
My clan "Powerlevels" a lot. Powerleveling the best way involves heavy heavy sacrifice from higher level players who want a 'quick fix'. We develop long term goals and strategize according to who is on, and what we have in the clan. Sometimes you have to powerlevel your higher ups. this is an even greater sacrifice. Powerleveling a lower player involves sacrificing some of your xp for greater overall xp. Powerleveling higher levels involves not only a sacrifice to your xp, but smaller gain for the person you plevel and a considerable dent in overall xp and should only be used under special circumstances.
However, we don't just take someone who is 14 harvesting and make them 100 instantly. This is pretty dumb because what if the person doesn't like it once it grinds? or what if the person who you pleveled is new and decides to run off to another guild after you've given them so much?
No, we group in harvesting like we group in combat. We get the biggest bang for the buck. Getting supreme xp is nice, an added bonus, but if that had never existed, I would still say that the highest sources should be readily available due to the quality of items they create and the ease at which we are able to level with them.
