Two very newbie questions

Post by dhuberma »

Hello,

After my first two play sessions, I need help with two issues, please!

(1) In both fullscreen and windowed mode, I am unable to figure out how to multi-task with other Windows applications. In fullscreen mode, alt-tab and alt-enter are not getting me out of Ryzom. In windowed mode, I cannot re-capture control of my mouse beyond the perimeter of the Ryzom window. Help! :)

(2) As an uber-newbie, I'm dying . . . a lot. Are there any long-term penalties to my deaths, or do I just "work off" the death points I'm accumulating over time?

Thanks and best regards,
Irving

I only play Ryzom in fullscreen mode, and alt-tabbing out of ryzom only works if another window is already open for you to go to.

The most obvious penalty for deaths is the death penalty (dp) that you must work off before you can start gaining experience again. I have also read that stats may decrease temporarily for a set amount of time if you die too frequently. Try to find groups with other people around your level to cut back on the deaths, the game is much easier and more fun when you are grouping with others.

Good Luck,

First you need to go into windowed mode within the game. Second, you will need to hit control, alt, delete and that will give you an arrow to get out of the game. Go out of game, do what ya gotta do, then go back into Ryzom and go back into full screen again. (This does make your boxes bigger while in windowed mode so make sure you aren't in a dangerous area or anything when doing this or you may not be able to see something that might kill you if you have to switch back and forth between game and something else)

If you are new, how is your armor? And your jewelry and weapon? That can make a HUGE difference especially when new. If you'd like, send me an in-game tell and I will try to help ya out and get ya set up a little better.

Dhuberma,

First of all welcome :) You can switch your arrow in game to be the hardward version. This will allow you when in windowed mode to click outside the client. I use this and I find it helpful. To change your arrow to the hardware mouse arrow while in game go to Game Configuration>Inputs>Mouse and click on Hardware, click Apply then Ok and you're ready to go.

Good luck and happy gaming.

Welcome dhuberme.

all above are great suggestions for you. As far as dp. If I didn't have dp I would think I wasn't playing. I have never been one to go out and not get one.

Best to be with a team that has a healer that can help you. The good thing it the dp comes off pretty fast.

Have fun and enjoy. hope to see you in game sometime and we can die together.
