I am thinking a game company is seriously needing to do a bit more research on people and internet connections I would guesstimate that half the people on line are behind a router, and in just 15 hours I have seen more than 5 seperate cases of cant patch, or timing out. And the only thing the GMs and tech's keep saying is drop your firewall. Maybe you folks need to buckle down and do a release of a 3rd party patcher or a serperate download using Fileplanet or some other download site and bunch up your To-Date patches and let us download them from somewhere other than your servers which we cannot get into. Just a thought of course.

Now that is an excellent idea at this point in time.

Hello, could those of you having trouble try pinging the following IP address:
213.208.119.221

To do so, click your Start bar, select Run, then type CMD.
In the resulting window, type ping 213.208.119.221

Thanks.

Ok, at least you're able to ping the server. Do you have anything other than Ryzom running when you try to patch?

I had a friend with Patcher problems. He eventually discovered that his Anti-Virus program was active during installation. The Anti-Virus program apparently didn't like the initial installation of Ryzom, but it didn't give a warning message either. When he went to patch, the game crashed his computer a bunch. He deactivated the Anti-Virus program. Uninstalled Ryzom. Made sure the Anti Virus Prgram was still deactivated. Reinstalled Ryzom and was apparently able to patch normally. I don't know if this will help in your case, but you should make sure your Anti Virus program isn't running during install either.

I have System Suite for my virus scanner and firewall. I'm pretty sure i disabled everything, is there a way i can verify it's inactive? Nothing obvious is running when i look in Task Manager. The specific fault i'm having with the patch is ....

Usually, error code 7 in cURL means "connection refused", or basically, it couldn't connect. This is a long shot, but do you have a proxy configured in your browser? Try disabling it if so?

Can you enter the above ftp:// URL in your browser? Does it let you download the file?

I have no idea what any of that means. I use Mozilla as my main browser.
