Zum has it straight for the matis outposts. You can get two or three packages in relativly little time. You can find everything you need for heavy armor and matis swords.
We have heard that it takes five packages to spawn a guard squad.
Do those five packages have to come all from the same person, in a certian amount of time? Or is it a total of five packages at any time, from any players?

im not sure if package handing in is mass counted or not. i handed in 10 and saw a whole bunch of guards pop up around me, during the handing in process. i saw guards pop before i handed in 5, thats all i know so far on that
in tryker last night as my guildie eggie was handing in some , before i got there, he was watching the guards take off 5 at a time to the guard towers outside the camps

Re: invasion strategy
I am assuming, that its based on all players donations, since the mission is finished after 1 turn in.
So say I turn in 4, someone else turns in 1, then a guard group 'should' show up.
The thing is, I don't know if it takes packages of armor, weapons, and shields to make the guards show up.
For instance, did someone else turn in 10 packages of weapons, another person turn in 10 packages of shields, and after I turned in the first 5 packages of armor, the first group spawn, then my last 5 packages of armor the second group spawn?
I don't know enough about the turn in to spawn ratio to know if this is how it works.
Edit:
I think you can only turn in 1 package at a time or you loose all the rest, since the 1'st ends the mission, and rest are probably dumped.

Re: invasion strategy
It appears that it is just 5 packages total from all players. I turned in 10 average packages, and a guildie turned in 2 prime packages. It seems that what you make doesn't matter either, shields or swords of Q50 make the same "Average package" I imagine a prime package makes a lvl 100 guard or soldier though.mrshad wrote: We have heard that it takes five packages to spawn a guard squad.

10 minutes later when I was scouting, a group of 5 "Soldiers", yes SOLDIERS not guards came walking up beside and on up into the Aggro's in KoD, Interesting when I zoomed out on Radar it did not seem like they were getting aggroed. I have seen a guard tower between the war camp and the Tower bridge Matisian Border Guard outpost, maybe they were headed there.
Tonight we should be able to make a clear path to the harvesting camp if we can pop another 10 or 20 groups of troops. Please, Get your guild mates, and organize them along with the non-guild affiliated. We need to keep the path to the war camp and crafting camp clear, as well, our fighters can harvest Q50 mats from surrounding mobs. i.e Hard Kipees for the armor shells and armor clips. We need to get everyone involved. We could probably produce 40 troop units with everyone's efforts.

Re: invasion strategy
All packages I get the mission for now, have in mission text, produce armor for Knoll of Dissent troups, something along those lines, so I imagine as each area fills up, the mission text changes to that of what is being filled next.

Re: invasion strategy
I'm pretty sure it's 5 of any type. I've gone there several times with 10 packages from lance crafting and each time, I see 2 sets of guards show up.zumwalt wrote:The thing is, I don't know if it takes packages of armor, weapons, and shields to make the guards show up.

Re: invasion strategy
Have we noticed any difference in the guards when we hand in different sets of packages?
I.E. Qual 50 vests compared to Qual 100 vests?
(it would make sense that the guards would be tougher but im not sure crafters want to start throwing out their high Qual mats for these sets.)
Also, has anyone else been able to find higher qual (above 80) Secretions sources other than those that are recieved from slaying higher level kitin?

Re: invasion strategy
From what I can tell, the q80 secretion is all there is, and its made for those who are doing the q50 missions, anything above that is requiring more work in alot more dangerous area's to build stronger troups.
I don't understand the logic behind this at all.

Re: invasion strategy
I know of an area very close to Dyron where I regularly harvest Q130 kitin secretion. On top of that, it's right along the water line, so if I have time before the kinchers spawn on top of me (which they do there only if I'm harvesting), I can jump in the water. This area starts at the SE tip of the Dyron lake and goes right up along the west side. I'm not sure if this is waht you were asking for as it's only semi-safe. The kinchers seem to 'know' when I'm harvesting and attack from a very far distance - more than just regular aggro distance...
Re: invasion strategy
The only thing that sort of ticked me off is the reward for turning in high level secretions. A group of us spent a hour or so killing overlords and above to get 30 q200+ secretions to turn in at the harvester camp. I took the secretions up to the camp and received 4 Average Matis Tokens for all that effort. If I turn in 5 q23 claws at the war camp I get 5 Average Matis Tokens. The levels of effort vs the rewards are totally inconsistent and hopefully they'll do some major adjusting before the next event of this type.
