New RP Guild: KEEPERS of ATYS

Post by yy48n19 »

Keepers of Atys

is to be a guild for the casual, RP-oriented player of SoR. I have a full life outside of this game, and can only play maximum of 15 hours per week, mostly on weekends, and am looking for players with a similar gaming schedule. I do not play games like this to have the best l00t, or to be the highest level; my primary interest is roleplaying. The purpose of this guild is to help fill what I see as a RP vacuum within SoR, and to bring together like-minded casual gamers.

Even though this is a roleplaying guild meant to unite roleplayers, it will not be for each and every player character on Windermeer server. Keepers of Atys will draw to it those players whom share the philosophy which is outlined below:

[NOTE: anything that is out-of-character or part of game mechanics is set off by brackets; everything else is in-character--in other words, part of the world of Ryzom and Atys]

1. We are conservationists of the planet's resources, and use care in extracting them. We will also make every effort to cleanse the planet of goo infestation.

2. We are wary of the Karavan, due to their militaristic bent and lack of concern for the care of the planet. Under no circumstances will we do missions for them. Now, it will be acceptable to participate in defending your native lands, even if you are in a Karavan political region, from Kitin attack; yet, you should make every effort to make it clear that you are not supporting the Karavan through your actions, but simply fighting against the invasion with the best interest of Homins in mind [the game mechanics of this is that you may fight against an invasion, but you may not accept it as a mission from a Karavan recruiter].

3. We are to work with, not against, other Homins, and with the good of Hominkind in the center of our hearts and minds. We will not agress other guilds, although we will certainly defend ourselves from any threat, whether from creature or Homin.

4. Potential guild members must subscribe to this philosophy and undergo an interview before being initiated into the guild. Those who are not yet seasoned warriors or magicians [to be initiated into the guild, a character must be at least level 30 in one of these skills] must undergo a period of training until they have proven themselves as warriors, either in the martial or magic arts. The training will consist primarily of being mentored by one of the senior members of the guild [going on hunts with them, receiving better equipment, etc].

[Rules #5, 6, and 7 are strictly player conventions, as opposed to something that applies to a player's character, and therefore are separated from the rest of the in-character stuff by brackets.]

[5. Each potential guild member must demonstrate that they have a sound grasp of what is in-character and what is out-of-character. We hope to participate in roleplay with other guilds of dissimilar and even antagonistic philosophies; to this end, players will certainly be able to roleplay a dislike and disdain for other characters, but when dealing with other players, guild members must treat them with respect. Remember, no one likes to be insulted, spit on, degraded, etc in real life. The Golden Rule is very important here.]

[6. Guild members will remain strictly in-character when typing in around chat. Guild chat, region chat, team chat--all other chat except for around--can be out-of-character, but around is to be strictly in-character for immersion purposes.]

[Possibly THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Rule Number 7: If you have to force yourself to follow any of these rules, this guild is probably not for you. As previously stated, this guild is being created to attract like-minded players. I don't want to impose a set of rules on anyone; indeed, these rules should not be seen so much as rules as much as they are guideposts to let you know what this guild is going to be about, and whether or not you may like it.]

Keepers of Atys will eventually be open to all races, as long as they subscribe to the rules above, although it is starting out as a Tryker guild, since this is where its founders are based.

As stated above, this guild will not be a fit for every roleplayer; however, if you are a roleplayer whose character has an opposite belief system or otherwise does not fit, I encourage you, even plead with you, to start your own guild. One of the hopes I have is for this guild to be part of a greater RP campaign with other RP-oriented guilds. I would love to work with other guilds to create plots and storylines of drama, humor, pathos, and impact. If you have a desire, like I do, to see Ryzom take off into the uncharted netherworld of a true MMORPG, please consider this a call to start something! I know that their are roleplayers out there who are eager to flesh out this world that has been laid down by the devs.

If any of what I have written here interests you, please send me a PM, reply to this topic, contact me in-game, send a telegram, or whatever works. Thanks, and good luck!

Mellodi,
I believe you will be a very good guild leader and i hope the best for your guild. Any Homins that join should be proud to have a leader such as yourself.
Though i have moved to more of a neutral stance on the Kami/Karavan issue, I would stand with you to prevent any invasion into Aedeas Aqueous.
