Ok, this reward business for the invasions is a horrible idea
Re: Ok, this reward business for the invasions is a horrible idea
I have to agree Raynes, I ended up logging off in disgust in the end. I realise that allot of MMORPG players love the loot, but personally I played this game in hope of being involved in a story. The invasion so far has been turned into another grind, so instead of fighting tooth and nail to save our civilizations from the Kitin we are farming for loot... very disapointing :/

I rushed up to Tower Bridge when I heard about the invasion. I was killed at the border and discovered I was stuck with a Death Penalty. A few of my friends were similarly punished. We all left and went levelling instead. This invasion was another ridiculously un-thought through disaster!

Navra, if you spent that much time on it, I wouldn't trust you to report on the invasion
And these posts are unnecessary. Ask a GM how many times they've gotten these tickets.

Yup! I first noticed it when my heal I got at 165 was a -180 credit heal, and would only benefit from 180+ amps.

If an event is sudden and quick as someone asked above, then most of the server would miss it. Try and appreciate the problems the devs face when dealing with people who pay to play a game and come from all the worlds time zones. AN event of less than 48 hours is probably unfair to many people.
And the idea that an invasion is up and over within a coupla hours is crazy, try running 50 people from one zone to another without dying and you will see how the time required blows out. The kitin are no better at this then we are, so an invasion builds up, starts, runs and slows down... all takes days, not hours.
Apart from speeding up the turnover process for rewards this invasion seems to be pretty good to me. At least this time I actually saw some of it.

and i think they the reason they messes up with the reward mechanic is that they didn't expect evrybody to just sit and grind tokens all day. What they thought would happened is that people would do missions and killing through out the event, and cash them in when they can. Like get a few prime tokens at a time. That wouldn't have been too annoying at all.
Because we didn't know that this was a long term event (should have really told us that straight away!), everybody got into the rush of getting that awesome axe or dagger or what ever before the event is over, instead of trying things out. So they just sat and grind tokens and think that this is what the event is all about.
I bet you 120 prime tokens that they're learning a lot from this and make future invasion much ... wait ... I mean a bit ... better.
I have asked around if an event like this have ever been around in Open Beta and everybody said no. So this is a totally new thing they have set up for us. Let's cut them a bit of slack for trying and go do what we paid for. The reason why a lot of us are drawn to the game. Massive battles across four civilization against a threat to defend the planet (and for fun and giggles).
I am also pretty impress with the Raid engine so far, at least in the Fyros land. I guesstimate seeing 50+ mobs on screen all at once, close by and away in the horizon, and all moving, with out barely missing a beat. That was really cool.
Oh yah, if you do want to grind tokens, if you increase the speed of the mouse cursor using the configure menu (Input -> Mouse), it'll save you a tad of aggravation. Jus a tad.
