I will start useing shine, but if it feals silly, Ill stop.
One more thing about "gratz". Isn't that like gratulations?
When you gain a level it's mostly not out of luck anyway!
Shouldn't you tell someone that has done something to earn a level,
or put allot of time in something: Well done (wd) or nice work (nw) ?
Gratulations is more like something you say if something unexpected happens,
or when someone has his birthday!
Isn't that right?

Call me old and grumpy - I think its another effect of immigration into our lands...don't see a lot of older players doing this.

I've personally thought the only real levels worth congratulating are the 50 intervals. Gaining access to a new title is well worth people's attention. Everything else...well, different story.

I only ding at 50 level intervals, so it acually has value.
Typical team conversation:

-Ding!
-Gratz!
-Grats
-Gratz
-add i say !!
-Grats
-Nice
-OMG we gonna die !
-Gz
-Grats
So instead of killing the mob, everyone is too busy typing ding or grats

You forgot "INCOMING!!!!!"

I dont bother with the "ding" stuff, but everyone else is going Gratz! GTZ! Congratz!, it seems a little churlish not to join in

How about nothing because it's really lame and annoying. If it's at a milestone sure but every single one is rediculas. I really couldn't care less and we really dont need to hear it every other kill.

Well, reaching any harvesting lvl above 80 is worth a ding I think, considering thehorrible amount of time this can take
