Still love this game, but becoming frustrated - Mainland Troubles

Post by stellus »

It's becoming increasingly difficult to just get out into the world and start battling. I arrived in the mainland approximately 2 days ago and I've been having an extremely hard time preparing myself for just starting out.

I've noticed the mobs on the mainland are a huge jump from that of the starter island. They're hard to kill, yet they're worth so little experience. So I knew I had to adapt and I started working on getting new equipment. Well, I can't get to crafting my armor yet because the materials I need are no where to be found when I prospect. There seems to be an over abundance of ambers and a non-existance of lining and armor shell mats no matter where I prospect from (and no matter how far from the city I travel). I've tried just about everywhere.

So here I am kneeling in still newb gear (with the exception of my Q20 Medium pants) with only a Q20 sword which couldn't even penetrate any of the kipees/goaris right outside the city, trying to extract materials for new armor.

Melee Fight - 37
Range Fight - 35
Armor Craft - 36
Range Craft - 33

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can finally get going? I've been anxiously waiting to get out into the world and start fighting, yet it's hard to when mobs are difficult and exp is minimal.

It's like I'm a kid standing outside a closed candy store just waiting for the keep to unlock it for the day's business. :D

I would love to do that, but the problem is, I don't have a decent enough weapon that would do the slightest damage. Hopefully today is the day things get better.

Buy some new armor from a player? If nothing else, buy some from the merchants until you can make your own / buy some from a player.

I went to mainland at 34.5 in fight, I'm 39 now - but I seem to be harvesting more now, and just fighting in groups once in awhile. Might want to get in on a group now and then as well... A good group that is.

I'm slim on money which is another issue I'm having. 60,000 so far but not enough to buy me a full set of armor and a weapon. I also tried buying weapons and armor from the merchants but sadly, they're only Q25 which still doesn't amount to anything when fighting mobs out there. I barely scratch them =(

You can get a halfway decent weapon for 60k. I dunno, I left noobland with 150k because I crafted and sold my armor before I left. I think you asked about it once, -_-

If nothing else, I'll catch you in game and sell you some cheapo noobisland armor.

I play on the UK server, so sorry for trespassing :) . Have you tried some of that q25 armor? I am a Tryker at fight level 34 and I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a full set of q20 heavy armor before I left the newbie island.
Being even more broke than you it looks like my next set of armor is still some time away (player made armor seems veeery pricy), but currently I can fight growling cloppers barely without loosing any health (counting time for metabolism to help healing when they miss).

Fortunately I was able to get my hands on a very good pike from a guild mate last night, as my old q20 sword was certainly no good against anything tougher than vulgar kipees, but the armor seems to keep up protecting me well enough - usually even if one of those cloppers decides to bring a friend :) .

Build up your harvesting skills. Then find the materials and have someone make the weapons and armor for you. It's a very cheap and easy way to get some really nice stuff.
