How did you get addicted to Ryzom? How was your first time?

One day I was bored and saw the Ryzom Open Beta ad on fileplanet. I went to the website and watched one of the trailers (Teaser 6). I tried downloading, but something was wrong with the fileplanet downloader. A few days later I noticed the trailer file on my desktop again, so I went back to fileplanet to download it. Installed the game (btw, I still have the installer I downloaded that day), and started updating the game with the good old launcher. I started the game, and when I logged in I created a Fyros char (that's why i'm still fyros now). In noobland I started with the noobland missions and I crafted a boot. Then did the missions for the killing and I had to bring the guy some items from some Yubo. Then I was wondering how the **** people were getting stuff from the grounds, and then they told me I could buy harvesting at the trainers. First I was confused, cause I can't buy harvesting without harvesting sp, that sounds very logic, but then I found that i could use some other skill's sp to buy harvesting. A pick appeared in my inventory (they did that back then) and I did some digging. It was fun for some extra money. Then I went fighting again and I saw some group of guards trying to kill a Yubo that didn't want to die. I started killing the other Yubo without them killstealing my Yubo. Later I saw the same with a bugged bird (an Izam). I was walking around the impressive noobland location and found this weird creature that wanted me to go to my people in the desert. But he said that the desert can be very dangerous, so I accepted his offer. I then arrived in Pyr (not knowing where I was, I thought I was at some doomed location. The first thing I said was: "Where is this place??". Then I saw a Mighty Kirosta (at respawn point). I saw people say: "It's the creature from the bridge!!". It appeared to be one of those bugged creatures that don't die, and out of boreness I said: "All hail the Mighty Kirosta!!". Then I discovered a way out to some ancient buildings (trainer hall) which was completely empty (no npc, server was crashing). I was wondering why there were no people at a place like this (and I still do wonder why those places are always empty). Some time later there was a team going to hunt, so I decided to join them (there always was some group waiting near respawn to team). We went to the bridge and I got some nice levels there (i was around lvl 12 or something back then, I was sooo happy when I got 20/20). Instead of pulling things like we do these days, we were just standing in the middle of Outlaws Canyon, killing all the things around us (with some good healing). When we died and respawned back to Pyr, some friendly people invited me to their guild (i was on NA server those days, fyi). They went to train me on some Izams, and gave me a q100 sword which I kept till the end of Open Beta. They also learned me how the action system works. That was a short description of the first day. After some time I got a pm from fadin on na sorchat to ask me if I wanted to help testing on the closed testing server. A few days later I received the announcement that Ryzom was going back to closed beta. I got message again in which I was told that I was able to continue Ryzom on the closed testing server. There were some other players on the closed testing server too, we had some fun. Then there was the announcement about some Fairhaven server. It appeared to be a different server. Some time after other people were already on Fairhaven, the people from our test server were switched to Fairhaven too. We then were told to join Matis (i was on NA server, remember?). I created a female char (looked the same like the matis i use on ats now). Made a lot of friends in focus beta, went to different locations after some time (was testing some bugs of which we do not speak). Then I went on vacation for 2 weeks (i missed the invasion testing). On returning a lot had changed, the smaller buildings like the things near the merchants were added, and a lot of other stuff. Also the wondermats were replaced by realmats. They also added the requierments on armor, so I was unable to wear my HQHF armor, which had very good hp bonus. A lot of people were new, and they didn't know me like the others did. The guild chat was still as fun as usual and they were happy (i think) that I returned. Some time after that: char wipe. Final Open Beta was starting in a week and I received the announcement of the Pre-Order item. I changed back to a fyros character and I managed to get to almost all of the "End of Focus Beta"-invasions. I had a lot of fun there with helping new people. Then I really wanted the Pre-Order item and after some time my dad agreed, and 2 seconds before launch we pre-ordered. I still like the game now because new things are added every month, not everything should be there from the start.

Was looking for a mmorpg to play online last winter and came across the Ryzom website, with its fireflies and forest and outdoor noises, beta hadn't quite started. But the website was beautiful and the game sounded very interesting, I was looking at Uru of Myst too. I joined the fansite worldofryzom where people seemed very cool and expectant, then Uru fell through and so Ryzom was left. Didn't get to beta since i couldn't manage to dl the Huge client, but i definitely knew this was a game to stick with. Possibly the only one, i haven't even looked at wow yet...

And this is also my first mmorpg experience

Like so many here, I was looking for a new game. I had played some Earth&Beyond, which was nice but not quite me. Horizons (shuddering at the memories) then caught my interest. I played it a lot, but the bugs and ups'n'downs of that game... Anyone who has ever played Horizons will find anyone griping at bug or lag in Ryzom to be a cry-baby...

I then by chance through http://www.mmorpg.com stumbled upon the OB1 of SoR. And I Was Hooked! Been playing ever since through FB ond OB2.
