ok, finally got it figured out in case anyone else has this problem. It was my router being whiny, so i just disconnected and everything works fine now .

k, tried chat again, apparently i hit and extra button before and entered the wrong login, now it says "only registered users are allowed to login at the moment". I just registered my account, went through all the steps, login to the English speaking server,and get to character creation page. I have created the character I want, and entered the name- no weird stuff or numbers or anything. All it does is make a little ding noise when i hit submit- nothing else ...
