When reading the patchnotes on this one I could nto but think up the following conversation:
"I would like to have some more lvl in heal, but need to go have dinner with my gf now. Will be back in an hour."
"We are hunting in Whereever County, tp here."
"I said I have to go..."
"Nah, just put your char to follow me, I heal the group here"
"And?"
"I heal, you are in range and get lvls"
"Cool!"

Later:
"I am back, how going?"
"You tell us, hunt went pretty well in fact."
"Ye flippin' Lords of the Prime Roots!"
"What?"
"I made 16 lvls"
"Grats!"
"Gratz"
"Gratters!"
"Grat man"
"Who can craft me a better amp?"

Anyways, I will be on soon myself, but I am very curious how it is implemented, cause in D2, leechers where sometimes pretty bad...

After tests :

Healers have to stay in range of the group to gain exp. No more heal-once-and-run-in-safe-place. (well i can't imagine any healer getting out of range, how could he heal anything ? :D )

That scenario couldn't happen anyhow. The absent person would have to heal someone involved in the fight at least once. If they're afk, they aren't gonna be casting anything. So no leeching.

Indeed, patch 40 notes say healer has only to be in range now. I guess that this is so that should there be a fight where healing was not required the poor healer gets xp. As soon as I read the patch notes I thought EXPLOIT!

Have not tested yet though.

And how would the game know what person is a healer and what person is not in a team if the healer does not cast a spell? I tested standing within healing range and did nothing and can report that i did not get xp for it. Beeing within healing range is just an additional requirement to get xp.

Thanks Endasil. I thought that would be the case. Wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I think the point of the additional requirement is so that healers don't heal once then run and hide. Although I wonder jsut who you have to be in range of.

People should test things beofre making posts like this.

Come on! Dont flame me for thinking! It is very clear that I have not tested it and I request reports from someone who did.

Have to say that I am very glad leeching cant be dont, kinda sad that you have to heal pretty quick to gain xp if the mobs cannot hit your tank cause the crafter is too good in dodgearmours ;-)

Not flaming, just wishing. When I saw that in the patch notes I didn't automatically think it would cause an exploit. So seeing a post like this one kinda worried me as I figured it had been tested before it was posted.

Guess I was wrong.....
