If you are a member of ther IGDA, please log in and nominate The Saga of Ryzom as "Most Innovative Game of 2004".
No rigid classes, User created actions, Death Penalty that is merely a minor annoyance...surely Ryzom deserves this title!

if all subscribers could get access to ATS, then maybe it could persuade some folk's decisions... but please everyone state why you think Ryzom is so innovative among the other MMORPGs out there... might help out in the cause...

if everyone would have access to the ats everyone would be badly lagged(americans are lagging on it even when it's almost empty), and at least 9 missions would already be spoiled

so what's your point exactly? btw, i live in japan... and no one needs to spoil anything, as there should be some sort of blanket agreement...

my point? even in the current situation it's already very difficult for americans to test properly due to lags, what do you think would happen if all ryzom players got access to the ats? do you really think it could handle such a load?
and the missions would simply be spoiled because many people would test them and you simply cannot trust everyone not to post anything about it or not telling it to those who don't visist the ats, humans just don't work that way.

we all pay for the running of the test server so why shouldnt we be allowed access to it? seems a bit unfair to be honest maybe if those not allowed to use it started a petition to get it scrapped as our money seems to be wasted then maybe nevrax would listen and open the test server to other people

Because the ATS is a privilage, not a right.
You only pay for the right to access the play servers.
You don't even pay for the right to use the boards, the boards are also a privilage.
Technically, they can strip away all your privilages and only allow you access to your billing information and the ability to cancel your account, and have no access to the boards.

While Ryzom has done some interesting things, I don't find it very innovative over anything else on the market when it comes to day to day game play. People sit around in camps and powerlevel just like they did in EQ1. There are uber mobs that drop loot, just like the ones that people camped in EQ.
Ryzom has potential, but as the game stands now, it hasn't come close to living up to it. It's just the same old crap gameplay that infuses all the other games on the market. Actually, with more recent games that actually give players something interesting to do while they level, its behind the curve.
I've been to a few of the events. They have mobilized the player based and that is at least interesting. I've yet to see how those will fit into the "storyline that matters" part.

This game is not the most innovative of 2004 had they waited to release the game and have everything on the box and manual in game then most definitely would deserve the award but like someone else stated it is just a camp, kill, camp, kill kind of game. Also the crafting is not very innovative either its dig, grind, dig, grind. The game would also rank higher if they were to get all the annoying bugs out before introducing new bugs.
