Did you try to change it to fullscreen in the game, or did you try to change it in the configuration program?

I found that it would only go to, and stay in, fullscreen when I changed it in the configuration program. Which is in the Ryzom directory or start menu somewhere.

OK, lots of people have been posting this, and they haven't been clear about what's happening.

So: Does your game run in windowed mode, from starting it up to logging OFF, even though the fullscreen checkbox has a check in it?

For a start, Ryzom will always start in windowed mode - until you choose a character and hit the Play button, Ryzom will remain in a window. As I understand it, this is intended behaviour.

I run fullscreen, and Ryzom does not switch to fullscreen until I have chosen a character to play with.

So, is your problem this : Ryzom is set to run fullscreen (double check this), but after selecting a char, it remains in windowed mode?

Do you have an nVidia video card? I used to have a GeForce4, I tried changing my resolution in-game to 1280x1024, and it borked something. From that point, Ryzom would remain in windowed mode after selecting a char and logging in, even though the fullscreen checkbox was checked. To fix that, after logging in I unchecked the checkbox (30 sec delay, screen goes black, comes back still in windowed mode), then I checked the fullscreen checkbox again (another 30 sec delay, finally switched to fullscreen mode, interface all over the damn place). Eventually I went back to running 1024x768 fullscreen, and Ryzom didn't have this problem any more.
Luckily with my ATI card, it starts in 1280x1024 fullscreen, it stays in 1280x1024 fullscreen, and it manages to remember where all my windows where.
