smack in the middle of nowhere, this "Please Wait" window keeps popping up randomly, and its starting to be quite a pain. It pops up and doesnt go away, and if it does, it takes an extremely long time to the order of which I havent waited long enough yet. When it pops up, i cant move, cast spells, attack, chat (to the best of my knowledge no one can hear me), or do anything but sit/stand and turn around. i'm not even quite sure if anyone can see me. I think it's a matter of time, though, maybe 10 mins, but I havent recorded that.

This is a common problem that players have had. Usually the players have an older Linxys router and don't have the most recent version of firmware. If you do have a Linxys router try updating your version of firmware, see if that helps.

This issue is not caused by the Linksys router problem. I just installed a brand new top o' the line Linksys with speedbooster and I have the same problem. Besides the Linksys port forwarding issue at least disconnedcted you after 10 or so minutes...not 2 or 3 minutes as it is currently doing.
I think this has more to do with a patch they did yesterday

Linksys routers are fine. I have a Lsys router and I'm playing the game with no problems.

Without knowing your hardware specs, I'll tell you the first things to check (besides the Linksys router). If you have an ATI card make sure that you are running in Direct3D mode and have the latest drivers. If you have an nVidia card make sure to run in OpenGL mode and with the latest drivers. If you still have a problem make sure to submit a ticket in game or email
technical-na@ryzom.com and they'll try to help you further.

NOTE HE SAID DOWNLOAD THE LATEST FIRMWARE FOR YOUR ROUTER
He didn't say Linksys routers are bad. Just because one works doesn't mean EVERY model will, and just because it is new doesn't mean the guy at staples opened the package before you bought it and updated the firmware for you.
Check your net connection in a logical fashion from the drivers and configuration to the cables. Or Wireless for that matter... I know 3 or 4 people with Wireless Ryzom problems. Wireless sucks for games.
Anyhow, my point is don't just shoot down Cerest because you have had a different experience. His problem could even be a completely fragmented hard drive, a virusscanning program in the tray, or Kazaa downloading porn in the backgound. You never know until you check.

just because you just bought something at the store doesn't mean it's necessarily the newest drivers. often packaged stuff is 2-3 months behind the reason being is they have to manufacture things, package them, ship them, stock them and finall sell them.
granted you can luck out and get the newest firmware. i didn't, i got 2 - 3 revisions behind my current router's firmware when i got mine. i got my router in aug but the newest firmware was released released in may and yes i have a linksys router
btw wireless works fine for games, i use wireless 95% of the time for my gaming, had more problems before i updated my drivers, only did the connection software before but mucked around with it and got it all work, now ryzom is fine

Go to Start>Programs>Ryzom>Ryzom Configure
Open up config and then click on Dislplay at the left. It will tell you what mode you're running in on the right.
