Desided to test it with latest Cedega.
It actually ran with less lag than in Windows and smooth as anything, only problems were cursors occasional warping and shift producing some weird ascii line (wich may be because of my keyboard)...

Would you mind posting (a link to) your setup/config for those who haven't tried it yet?
... I am not lazy

i can also confirm this...
I only run the game in linux and have since day 1...however my brother (Jokara in game) recently switched (again) from windows to linux and he is getting like 1.5-2x the framerate.
====
His specs:
3000+ AMD-64
1 GB RAM 400 Mhz
GeForce FX 5900 XT 128MB
Windows 2000 Professional/Linux kernel 2.6.7
Windows: 25-45 fps / Linux (emulated): 60+ fps
====
(there is no way to check the actual FPS in game anymore since beta ended, however based on experience with 3D games, these are rough estimates of the framerate...in linux the game is ULTRA smooth for him. i've seen it and i'm jealous, his video card and processor are superior to mine.)
PLUS the game is emulated.

My specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1.5 GB RAM 333 Mhz
GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB
Linux kernel 2.6.7
Windows: pfft :0P / Linux (emulated): 25-45 fps

The shift/ctrl/alt issue you are getting that spits out an ASCII string is the result of no hardware keyboard support...somewhere buried in the old old old OLD beta threads is my HOW-TO get the game running in linux and avoid the mouse/keyboard issues. However it involved editing a file which is now checked and replaced every run of the game.
