nVidia MX5600 works with old drivers but not new one

I have a MX5600 with driver set 6.14.10.5216 When I load up Ryzom, it tells me my drivers are not up to date...Well, 1 day during OB I gave in and downloaded the newer driver set. Ryzom didn't work - freezeups, drops to desktop or auto-reboots. So having XP, I rolled back the driver set, and I'm back to playing with the 5216 driver.

I'm just wondering if others with the MX5600 vid card are using same drivers or the updated drivers, and if they are experiencing any problems.

I also have a 256 meg 5600. When it told me my drivers needed updating, I went ahead and downloaded them.

Then I decided to go into the game without updating them.

Looks like a good decision. New Video drivers are well known to cause problems where none existed before.

My video works great with the existing drivers.

Glad to hear you could back off the new ones.

Well, I have an FX 5600. It's not an identical card, but mine's working just fine with the newest set of Nvidia drivers (unsigned and all). I had the opposite problem, actually. I was getting massive color distortion with my old drivers even though they worked perfectly on SWG and City of Heroes. Updating resolved those issues for me.

The only thing I can think of would be to make sure your previous driver set was completely uninstalled, though I'm sure you've already done that. That's usually the biggest cause of lockups and reboots. If nothing else, you could always try getting an older driver version from the Nvidia archive. Best of luck.
