“Hello, again, my homin brethren. It has been some time since last I saw most of you. I have indeed missed your friendly faces, and cheery smiles. It saddens me to return to you with such ill fated news, but it is my duty to do so. I recovered some days ago, shortly after your valiant battle on the Nexus. I applaud you all for your unparalleled victory against the kitin forces. I knew you would be able to do it with some cooperation and a little luck.

The kitin seem to have become increasingly active since their defeat in the nexus. A victorious battle still has it’s penalties I’m afraid. It seems they are poised to strike back, and perhaps strike hard. This could be another show of the great swarming my friends. Prepare yourselves well! I will be scouting the areas in advance, but it seems they have begun to prepare for an attack on every land! This sort of attack has never been seen on these new lands, it is imperative that we fend them off, lest all that we have worked for thus far be lost.

You know what you are capable of my friends. We have seen your work in the Nexus, and in the roots of Atys, on your lands, and in defense of your cities. The time has come, the inevitable is here, our destiny is at hand. Go to your cities, and prepare your defenses. I will have further news for you as I find it, but for now I urge you. Gather your guilds, send out your harvesters, and supply well your crafters. Every skilled hand will be essential to our victory. When they come my friends, fight as if this is your last chance. Fight as though all you have ever known or loved depends on your absolute victory! Fight well my friends, for this may well be your last chance. All that you have ever known or loved, does indeed rest on your absolute victory!

From this hour let no doubt darken your mind. Let no fear shade your view. We shall prevail! We shall triumph! Though this evil is strong, we have the will of the ages to back our cause. To arms Homins! And to Victory! Prepare for now friends, and await further word.”

I hope it's not a discrete time, but instead a more generalized invasion with raiding parties roaming, and so on.

You should also think about throwing in some mobs of all levels not just high leveled ones. If the high level people kill them, they won't get xp. If the low level people kill them at least they will feel like they are actually helping the cause. Better yet, why not have 250 low level kitin attack at once, everyone would be needed them.

Because they aren't trying to keep the newbies happy? They are trying to keep the older folk from retiring.

We newbies are still enjoying ourselves exploring the game. Let the old geezers have their day.
