Any one know why servers are down?

I would guess because of Patch #2 that EVERYONE has been awaiting.

People should really read the forums more often. It was posted that they are patching the first of 3 patches to update number 2.

They still have that darn misleading information in the "server status" link, saying that the servers are open. Until Nevrax corrects that, I expect we'll continue to see people with questions like this. Why should someone have to read the forums to get basic information like this, especially when they have a link specifically designed to provide this information.

Probably the worst thing about a patch download is that you get fifty new threads posted by ninnys all saying the same thing "oh no I cannot log on - all I get is an error!! What is happening?!?!" Read the announcement posts poeple

Because in the time it takes you to write up this post, you could get your answer simply by going to the announcement section of the board. For that matter, why not just look there instead of the server status page?

The problem is that there is no message telling us to read the announcement forum.

How do we know we are supposed to read that?

But lucky Zzeii bring it to my attention and I know that I shall check the announcement forum now.

Not the point, raynes. Not everyone wants to read forums (remember those of us here have a predisposition to participating in forums). The only time some will come to a forum is when they can't understand what's going on; ie the "server status" link says open, but they get a strange message when they try to log on.

This should be fixed. Otherwise they should get rid of the server status link. Providing incorrect and misleading information doesn't benefit anyone, and has nothing to do with whether people should use this forum more.

BTW I follow the forums fairly closely, so I knew all about the update and the server being down. My post was for the benefit of those who don't like to bother with the forum.

it doesn't hurt to read the announcement forums. Players can't post/reply there to my knowledge, so its just the themis group posting their info from nevrax.

I agree, zzeii, but newer players may not know that, and may not want to have anything to do with the forums. From what I understand, forums in other MMO's can be a pretty inhospitable place for new players.
