1. as far as i understood the manual i can only play in 1st person or 3rd person view. fine with me but 3rd person means I look over my toons shoulder and see her only from the knees upwards. if i want to see her down to the feet (which would be usefull while prospecting or fighting small mobs) I have to set the "camera" about 10 meters above her.
this looks *ehrmm* not to mention that the moment i switch to1st person I have to reset again.
2. when starting to extract a source the view switcheds automatically to 1st person. fine with me too but I cant see the window showing the source data then and have to switch back into 3rd person.
3. sometimes I would like to have a look at my toon while she does an action(ground lvl preferred but see 1.) but i still can only do this in the direction she is facing (releasing the mouse button makes the camera move behind her immediately)
Any advice that could help?

Re: view
1. Use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom out/in, not sure how to do that without a scroll wheel atm.
2. You probably have follow target checked in your config (press u for config but I don't remember where the follow target option is located exactly), I would suggest unchecking it and zooming out your camera (see above).
3. You can also press numpad 0 to reverse the camera (also reverts when you release the key). Another option is the left click and drag the camera view. I know that the camera view holds during fights when set this way, unsure on harvesting.

Re: view
You can also tilt the camera view by the PageUp and PageDown keys, and numeric keys 1 and 2 will rotate camera view left and right respectively.
Numeric . will center the camera view behind the character; this I use a lot when fighting a mob that has over-run my position and is behind me when I'm attacking.
