Those of you on the ATS, please give your impressions of the new patch to those of us unfortunate enough to be on the ATS. Are there mounts? How are the quests? How's PvP?

i'll keep myself a little short here =)
@quests, yes they are there, and from what i can see they rock, they took the missions we all know and add some other objectives that are similar to the ones the noob trainers used to give, add a nice bunch of text and created a story, that involves you, teaches you about the history and requires you to actually use all the knowledge and skills you have accumulated so far. and when i say all, i mean all =). the missions also give quite unique and new rewards, like special crafting abilities that have been long awaited by some players.
i won't spoil the fun and go into too much details here about the content and rewards of the quests. i also have to note that atm they are quite incomplete and still being worked on, we were also told not to report errors in the quests, from which i gather that they are outdated on the ats.
@mounts, haven't seen any, but i also haven't looked far, to be honest.
@pvp: we were able to test GvG in the roots and FvF in matis land. the gvg test was to me not very satisfying, since i am a double dagger melee and rely on my equipment heavily, but due to certain circumstances most of us had only ql 50 equip against mages with ql 150 spells. the best possible description for what we did was brawl, 18 vs 18 in a corridor of plant mobs. really fun was when we had melee only fights or attacked each other buck-naked esp. since this generated a lot of running around and piling on top of each other =)
FvF was very much fun, since most of us had good equipment and we only had 9 vs 9 people. we fought near the small hill in the north of fleeting gardens. the surroundings allowed for quite a variety of tactics and the relaxed atmosphere pre-fight and the tense silent approaches and heated battles kinda gave the feeling of a ut match. some strategies were: hiding in the midst of herds, sniping from mountains, getting the elevated positions first(attacking from lower positions just sucks in ryzom o.o), advancing through the woods in a way that hinders the mage from proper targeting(that fight felt like slaughtering cattle to me, since all the mages had other targets when i came around a tree to slice them up =)), hiding your numbers by walking near to each other(in FvF the compass is usually at 250)
all in all, fun was had =)
if you need more details, don't hesitate to ask, but keep in mind that i might be asleep then and i'll get up at ~1000 gmt+1

just an FYI you might or might not know about, having the high ground is a good idea in real life as well. Wars have been lost in real life because the enemy was on the hill.
HINT:
try adjusting camera angle to see on TOP of the hills, and find the post with the Max camera distance code to adjust that. HARD to hide when I can see ON TOP of the herds and zoom out to where most characters are an inch tall.

The default value is so pathetic that it's a shame to tarnish the game by playing with it
start
run
type out: %windir%\notepad.exe C:\program files\ryzom\client.cfg
click ok
go to the end of the file and insert
CameraDistMax = 250.0000000000;
save the file and enjoy

i do have the zoom hack active, and well, didn't help squat, the tactical advantage stems from being able to target the enemies faster, since you want to drop the mages and most importantly the priests first. but when zoomed out it's quite difficult to find out who is who, so you become too slow :/

I only use the WAY far out, I am that tiney tiny ant, zoom mode when traveling, easier to target the agro mobs then hit the compass and see if I am already dead *wry grin*.
When I am playing I keep it where I am able to see in front, behind and on both sides, and STILL able to see names.
My favorite PVP tactic is stay away from other players. LOL I am not much for PVP, to me it always seems that I am too low level to hunt another player, or my gear isn't good enough. Either way...I don't take death that easy, and when it isn't fun...I log off.
