Unable to connect post-patch

So, I installed the new patch, and as the title says, I'm no longer able to connect. the farthest I can get is past the character selection screen and then about halfway through the load bar.

At that point, I get a run-time error and a crash. Last time, it rebooted my computer. Everything else is running fine and, until the last patch, I rarely crashed out of Ryzom. Last time, I got a <x_not_exist> interface on the EULA, my character name and everything. That's when it rebooted.

I've run the Ryzom recover program, I've rebooted. I've reset my cable modem. Next thing, I guess is a complete reinstall, which I am avoiding due to tales of lost spawn points.

I've just noticed that my client_cfg file is blank. That have anything to do with it?

I also can no longer see the progess bar on my failed loads. Every time it crashes, the screen resolution gets worse. It's at about 200x300 now, so all I see is the upper corner and the two characters.

More edits. Now completely unable to play. Tried the 'repair' option and got:

Error 131: Source file not found: <local files>\Temp\Ryzom\Data1.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Tried another time:

Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.

Moved my files to another directory and chose uninstall. That uninstalled, but then died.

Tried a reinstall off my original install discs.

Error 1335. The cabinet file Data1.cab required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used.

Anyone else having issues with this?

Tin.

honestly, try doing some other things or playing another game....sounds supiciously like a hardware mem error. they do just these sorts of things.

just a thought. normally I would delete the entire game and all folders and reinstall, but you said the CD can't read the cab file, I/O errors like that scream bad RAM bank to me. anyways doing something else system intensive will prove or disprove that theory.

Logged out last night at 4am, no problems. Logged back in at 1pm and patched. Problems. All other apps and games run fine. Defragged, chkdsk'd and all sorts of other fun stuff. No problems. Mem works fine. Computer seems to be working well in everything but Ryzom.

As for the CD, got the error. Ejected the CD. Put it back and it was fine. Did that a couple times. Patching now. Patch says it's a total of 153MGs yet it has currently downladed over 900MGs with 20% left on the patching.

Update: Patch is at 133mgs of 153 mgs. 1.2Gb downloaded.
Update: Patch is still at 133/153. 1.45Gb d/l. Really need to get more accurate patching software in there. ;)
Woohoo! Finished patching in 1h 41m at 1.55GB.

Blow it you have a virus, thanks for this heads up, not going to even try loading the game tonight, they probably have a virus on there servers that killed your machine, wouldnt' supprise me.

The download is not reading EoF bytes from the file, so it doesn't know when it finishes downloads.

I had this problem once on my wife's pc, booted it up with an anti-virus boot disk and it had a wurm on the boot sector.

Nuked the wurm and everything ran smooth after that.

I would suggest nuking the game again from your PC and just wait a day.
I won't be online tonight, not with you having these issues, I don't trust that one of there files doesn't contain a virus.

And a virus can be something as bad as just there patcher having a serious memory leak and also having a serious overflow problem that went unchecked.

There doing a typical rush to get the patch out without consequences it sounds like.

Uh... whoa.

My character is either really bugged or on the worst acid trip of her life.

All monsters are white cardboard cutouts. I have no land textures in Tryker, only water. I'm currently floating 4 feet above water watching yubos run in mid air overhead.

o.O

Relogged and there's an alleged 44mg 'tryker' patch waiting for me.

44Mg patch is at 150Mgs and going strong. Since all of it seems to be Tryker related, it looks like monster models and the entire Tryker map got missed in the last patch.

Final 44mg patch waa 240Mgs and the client crashed again. <sigh>

Took another 40 minutes, a few false starts and changing of video settings to places they were *not* pre-patch and I'm back online, Make of all that what you will.

Forget it. Not wanted on this voyage. Unceremoniously booted from the game god knows where in the Roots as the shard went down. Now back to runtime errors when I attempt to log in.

I really don't know what more I can do.

Getting same issues, I load up ALL the patch then have a runtime error crash as the system reboots after launching.

Not sure what the hey is up, Not going to reinstall, I JUST got into Matisian territory and there is simply NO way I am going to try to RUN out of the tunnel in Fyrosian territories with NO spawn spots, Aint happening.

I got intermitten errors while loading last night after the shard crashed.
Then, the creatures that normally didn't agro, were agroing, also, the bodoc's near Yrkanis now have a wide range AE attack, one guy was killing one and it was also hitting me, he was about 15M away from me at the time.

Pack mules were just popping in and out of the stable on there own.
One poor mule bit it at the yrkanis stable, don't know why, was alive one minute, dead the next.

The game has gone goofy.

hmmm what time frame was this, server was down for a while last night. As for the patch, I downloaded it normally and fired up on it no issues, other than finding my custom defaults needed resetting. After server downtime continued without issue. I didn't go into the prime roots though, just back and forth tween Pyr and Thesos.

Virus isn't unheard of, especially with the rumors og hacking from outside sources going about, but my system shows clean. <shrug> Unless they have more than one patch server bank I can't think of an issue on their end that would cause randomly intermittant problems, seems the issues would be common place if that was the case.

I ran two virus scanners, CLEAN bill of health. No other issues online. I tried to patch around 5 am central this morning. Tried again around 6am central.
