So i do not like to alt-tab.
So i ordered myself a 19" CRT flatscreen.
So it happens that my videocard has to plugs to connect screens to. (ATI Radeon 9550)
Hey, this sparks an idea.
I want to run Ryzom on my bigbigbig screen and I want to run it fullscreen. The other screen will have a normal windows desktop that might contain firefox, thunderbird and i-tunes. No, it will not contain MSN, one chatinterface is enough.
Systemspecs:
AMD Athlon 2400+
1024 Mb mem
some nice 20% filled 7200rpm hdd (the mp3's are on another disk that is connected on the secondairy ide controller).
Can this be done?

Two display screens
Re: Two display screens
Well, i have 2 screens on my pc but i always disabled the secondary one when i start playing, the game runs way to heavy otherwise.
Re: Two display screens

I have one screen for playing Ryzom full screen and another to read the forums and chat clients

Yay!
I hope the system and gfxcard can handle it considering the processes, but I think that I have enough mem installed. Ryzom eats about 650 of that and I might turn off all windows effects not to strain the gfxcard. Or buy another one with more mem... Or another system altogether? Nah, if it runs sloppy I'll just wait a few months and THEN buy another system
Thanks!
Re: Two display screens
yea, it can probly be done, but i think you'll have to play ryzom on the 2nd screen so you can still use the "start" menu thingy..
Re: Two display screens
The new screen will come in tuesday of thursday, so I will keep you informed. I have the feeling it is worth the try.
Re: Two display screens
when I was using my athlon 2400 pc with a twin nvidia card I had no issues with a 21 inch screen for the game and a 17inch for forums and chat.
I ran ryzom on main screen and even in fullscreen mode I could see the taskbar at the bottom when I hit the windows key.
so I just open up what I want and drag it to the desktop window.
The gameplay was a little choppy though.
Since I have moved to a new pc - a athlon xp3200+ with nvidia card fx5900 256MB - everything is stunning !

Re: Two display screens
I have tried running the game too while dual screen was enabled (Nvidia).
I also found that the game was a bit more choppy when running with dual's enabled. I ran dxdiag, and found that the onboard gfx RAM was didvided onto the 2 screens.
So if you gfx card has 128 mb memory, the game will run with only 64 mb gfx memory, if you choose to use dual screen.

Re: Two display screens
That is crappy, but maybe I can config it so that the gamescreen get like 190 and the other the rest. On emore day of waiting!
Re: Two display screens
I think the best choice is to buy a cheap second pci graphics card for £30 or something and slot that in for use on the other screen.
That will solve the problems.
