Very much like my Turke.

You can make huge contributions to guilds without killing anything (although sometimes things just get in the way :) ) Three big standout areas are harvesting (which will requires incidental combat (ie to get to the good harvest spots)), specialist crafting (armourer, weaponsmith, jewelery, etc) and magic healing.

As for roleplaying, that was pretty thin on the ground in beta, but once you break away from the newbies and the power-leveling munchkins you will find a core of roleplayers.

If you have never played SoR before it would be helpful to read my guide and some of the others to ensure you make fewer mistakes and can have a successful career.

Had it printed out (anongst other things) and studied it on the way to the store - quite an effort and very usefull I have to say *thumbs up*
