now when we got a motd could we please use it to inform about events and such?

i missed the event today since i dident check the forum, i did played earlier today, but then i went to feed the ducks, loged in again and after 20min i understood that something was happening, so i asked ppl and they told me there was a war...

Strongly, strongly agree. I was very upset to discover there was an event going on without any real notice, only to find when I logged in that no one knew where.

Meanwhile, the majority of the dev work for one patch - the MOTD - welcomed me nice and brainlessly to the 'rich lands'. Come on guys, this one is a no-brainer, and I hate to say it, but I think you owe us an apology for the communication surrounding the event.

In the real world events happen spontaneously with no warning whatsoever. Why would Atys be any different?

We have had “Events” happening every weekend from the beginning of release, shouldn’t we start expecting things to occur around 8:00pm UK time by now?

Just a thought.

Tonight's event was rather spontaneous, our dedicated events team thought you folks might enjoy some extra-action throughout the weekend.

That's why it hadn't been announced earlier. They did spread the word about the event though, through our Klients live chat channels.

If you want to stay up-to-date with the latest on-goings and gossip - Klients is the place to be !

Dont u play MMOs to get away from the spontaneuty of the real world? Do u not seek sanctuary in the haven which is a predetermined online world?
The utmost consequence to the most irrational action (game,not communitywise) is just death, some dp. The good thing about events in MMOs is the knowledge that they will happen, so we can prepare and such.

Some people view MMos as an extension of real life, and thats when u know its time to creep out of the room u have been cooped up in for a few days and go out a little.


Basically, imo, which is the exact contrary of your opinion, MMOs should have no similarities to RL. Hell homins should have some undefined shape that has never been seen in real life, and we should all communicate in jibberish.

Because the real world is populated constantly and Atys requires some notice to be populated. Otherwise all events should occur at 3 am.

I appreciate the efforts of those who thought this would be a nice spontaneous gathering, and the fact that even though I came in too late to participate I at least got a chance to get a chance to go to the land of the little people for the first time.

However, I've got to say that I'm really disappointed with the other part of your response. I didn't realize Klients was an integral part of the game. Certainly isn't part of the installation disc. Guess I really do need to download it if this is the primary form of communication for such critical parts of the the game as scheduling events. Never heard of a MMORPG that required an optional piece of software for basic communication, but I guess we can adapt.

Perhaps you should reconsider. The MOTD is a good way to mention time and place, or if you want to be in more character, make the MOTD mention that the lands are becoming increasingly at risk, and that some resolution is expected in the next few hours.

yeah, and i appreciate the events, but it would be nice that as soon as the ppl arrenged it decided on the event, to change the msg of the day, even when the event had started i dident know about it until iv played for 20min. that would not have been the case if motd whould have been changed...

i dont know if the gm's have access to the motd, but if they have: use it ^^
if they dont: poke the devs until the make it possible ^^
