To set the tone of my post I will tell you up front that I have been entralled by this game since I started playing the beta. Now that may have to do with the fact that I am pretty new to mmorpgs, my previous experience being limited to EQ, and many may stop reading this post at the outset, so be it.

I have found that regardless of the changes and frustration that they bring, I find that this game allows me to explore, manipulate my skills, and otherwise keeps me going to new levels. I understand how a person can become bored with doing the same thing over and over. When I am confronted with this situation I have found that there are mechanisms in the game that I can use to allieviate my bordom.

I have found that by being a melee fighter, I can go back and work on my 1h melee in some of the lower level areas, because it is about 30 levels below my 2h. And i do this solo when my friends are not on and I don't want to (or can not) group. But it has occured to me that have my main fight level at 85 and all else well below, and with new friends coming to play the game, I will be able to help them level. My magic power is low, about 30ish and I find myself anxiously awaiting their arrival, so that I have stopped leveling my magic until they get here.

In the mean time I have worked on my harvesting, I have been far out stripped by my mates who craft, but that is not too disinheartening, like I mentioned, I will be more available to help my newbie friends.

I refuse to be bored with the game and so I have made my alts, a tryker and matis, that I may play in other areas and other people.

I have found for the most part that this game is very playable, I consider myself a causal player, I play about 4 hours or more a day. LOL really, the reason i consider myself a causal player in spite of the hours I play is that I am not out to uber myself and rush into higher levels as if that is the end purpose of the game. Besides, I am one of the mature *ahem* players and I dont read so fast anymore lol. I just want to have some fun and develop a sound character, so I can sit quietly, be alert to learning and surprise everyone when I get up and knock the s***t out of some mob.

I am looking forward to all the coming patches with glee and a twinkle in my eye, cause I know things are going to continue to get better and better.

I find perhaps that while I may at times be bored, but by lending a hand to guild mates and others, I can find plenty to do, and being a mature player, i am willing to be patient, cause I know the payoff will be worth it.

very good posts, and even tho i am of the younger generation i can draw many parallels from your type of gameplay to mine =)

actually believe it or not some of the players that are leaving are "more mature"

i do agree with you tho, i'm willing to be patient instead of the "i'm taking my toys to another sandbox because i'm not getting my way" attitude taken by a lot of players

instead of giving them a chance to fix it they leave with the promise "to return" i willing to bet all those players that promised to return never will no matter what. the only thing their posts about leaving is to make themselves feel important.

i've not been that upset with the changes, i do admit some such but we had it too easy before. also they've adjusted some of the stuff since the patch so they're trying to fix stuff.

i'm more than willing to help out my guildmates or just run around and level up or gain fame. there's plenty to the game to do without all the "content"

i also think they're not releasing it all at once to give us a chance to learn the world and get used to it before being tossed into the thick of things.

oh thank you oddie for your post. Being one of the really really mature players I can understand very well. I have one grandson coming over to try and explain to Grandma AGAIN.

I have had to have my guildmates help me over and over again with editing the spells. It isn't I can't read as fast its that I can't figure it out. No concept of it. I have to be told many times over. Think I am almost getting it tho still have a bit of problems.

I feel as you. I have not gotten bored yet. I am trying to figure out harvesting tho. Now that is tricky for me. The magic (other than trying to edit spells) is fine, so is my melee. I can slash with the best of them. Haven't tried crafting yet not sure if I can figure that one out either. There are so many opportunities to do different things. I mean 5 different ones you can have. You can make them 5 different ways and places.

Would love to meet you in game Oddie. We could plodd along together. I can't even run fast. Usually at the end of the bunch. They are always coming back to see if I am still back there. Last time I used speed ran right into a mob of Varnix needless to say with bad results. Can't manuver to well either.


The changes have been fine for me cause I am not a big leveler. just love the game.

My Packer is named Odie .

I know what you mean about having one or two high levels and everything else rather low. My primary level is in Lake Land Foraging, but with my other levels so low I can easily group with lower level, lesser experienced people and actually have the outings worthwhile for both myself and them.

I do wish Nevrax would take away some of the teaming penalties to make this more of a moot point, but it can be worked around.

hehe i get a kick out of reading your post.....
I love playing with my grandsons and they have tips for this granny too.

I have a matis on newbie land, she is ready for the mainland i will come and play with you, and her name is oddie, have a tryker named zammie too.

I got a couple guys going in circles tonight trying to remember how to get out of town,,,,,man those maps are down right screwy LOL

To the Grandma, what helped me with the spell programing is remembering that for each action I had to Pay for it (action-credit), and I had to determine the range (how far away I could stand and still cast it), how long I was willing to flail my arms around (time credits, I only use this one for pull spells and soloing) and how much sap or Hit points I was willing to spend.

I think once you get some experience programming skill you will understand it better. MOST skills use the exact same system of action and payment, and most have the same methods of payment.

I honestly think that this player community is MUCH more mature than any other game I have played. In EQ I felt like a Granny myself, even though I am a decade away from this time (give or take), in Lineage two...UGH I felt like a GREAT great great great granny, I think the average age in L2 was roughly just barely old enough to reach the keyboard *groans*.

I have met several grandpas, and a granny or two and found them to be amazing chat mates or group mates. The level of manners tends to be a tad higher as the age goes up (there ARE young players that will blow your mind and go against ANY age typing, and there are older players that are not so nice).

I welcome the changes in maturity levels, manners and civility that I see in this game. It is a sweet breath of fresh air.
