Departure - Farewell

It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from Ryzom. I truly do love the game and it has been something I have been looking for in a very long while. The experience was definitely memorable and I thank so many people for their help, especially my guild - OOC.

The Saga of Ryzom was something that I thoroughly enjoyed on a daily basis, but several problems have arised. It's proving to be difficult to pay for the game. Themis does not accept American Express and that sets me back a lot. I've also become increasingly busy with schoolwork. This week has been especially hectic as I am working on programming parts of a gaming engine for one of my classes. It takes a lot of time out of my day.

I've also been a little displeased with Patch 1's changes though this is not my sole reason for leaving. Patch 1 has garnered a different type of game style and has ultimately become a different game for me. The game I beta tested, pre-ordered, and payed for no longer exists to me. I don't find the same enjoyment as I did before. Ryzom has transformed from a casual gamer's delight into an impossible journey only a hardcore gamer can take advantage of.

I believe Nevrax has a vision for their game and a set plan as to where they want it to go. As an aspiring game programmer and designer, I understand this. It seems, however, that the game that currently exists is not what I initially had played and loved from the start. It is no longer for me and does not satisfy my gaming desires. With that said, I do still believe Ryzom is a good game and I hope it does well in its future.

I wish everyone luck and hope their Ryzom experience remains enjoyable. I may return in the future, but only time will tell.

Stellus, I am so sorry to hear you are leaving us. I understand that r/l often gets in the way of the things we do for enjoyment, and when those things are less enjoyable it is all the easier not to fight to keep it.

I wish you all the best with your studies and projects. Who knows? Maybe someday I will find myself on a different website, raving (or ranting ;) ) about the game that you took part in creating. :)

Take care, and if you can sometime in the future, why not peek in on us again? Things may have changed by then and you may with to again make a place for Ryzom in your schedule.

Sincerely,
Miy's player

Goodluck in all your future endeavours Stellus. The community of Ryzom mourns the loss of one who contributed much, a mature, outspoken and articulate gamer.

Can I have your stuff? :p

Does anyone else find it horribly ironic that they have driven off one of the people quoted in the newsletter about what a great game this is?

Good luck Stellus and thanks fer the petition and reasoned calls for changes.
