what a wierd game...the official game launch was nov09 and i went to the store and they actually have copies of the game for sale in the store!!
how wierd is that? what a concept..the game goes live and people can actually buy the game on the same day it launched??

They missed out the big fun of Ryzom.. SoR has you questing right from day one..SoR sends you on a huge scavenger hunt for 3 weeks after launch as you travel from store to store in the real life quest for the game.. was sooo much fun

sorry..still miffed at this games launch. 3weeks to find game was insane.

so this is a fairwell post..good luck Nevrak and the peeps i met in game..i am sure SoR will turn out to be a great game ..i will keep checking on this games progress over the months...This game scenery and "live" feel is still the best game out there for that... the living ecosystem feel to the game is unmatched anywhere

This cannot bode well for EQ2. Who ever heard of a successful MMO launch in which the game was not sold out after the first day? I conclude from this that EQ2 will be a resounding failure! ;)

Halo 2 had 1.5 MILLION pre-orders, and estimates that it's already made 200$ million.

Totally different subject, but thought it was interesting. (My collectors edition is in the mail. ;) )

Ya I preordered EQ2 from Best Buy what a joke...I got an email saying the game was backordered...when I argued with the salesperson about losing my best buy bucks...I finally asked for her supervisor. I asked her if I could pick it up at my local store and she called them to see if they had any. They had 60 copies ! That just pissed me off since I preordered the game a month ago.

Lesson don't order anything from best buy, what a lousy way to do business.

I got into WOW free beta...WOW looks real nice...thats maybe why EQ2 sales werent so good. Ryzom, Halo2, WOW free beta and EQ2 all went online at the same time. I'll tell ya the internet was slow yesterday.

Don't forget the Nintendo DS, which won't account for as many absent players as Halo 2, but still counts :D

Pretty much the four most anticipated items of 2004 were released (or made available to the public) in the last couple days.

Halo 2 won't actually be a big puller away, it's a completely different class of game. Likewise, the DS isn't going to pull PC MMORPG players from their systems (Aside from being nintendo, handheld systems cater to a much younger crowd, and the pokemon bunch. Not a bad thing, just a fact).

SoR in its current state is pushing people out, forget the fact that other games are magnets to attract them. Not all MMORPG players only play in the MMORPG worlds. What's fun for one is not fun for all, but the whole point of enjoyment...is to enjoy it, right?

My hope is that they endure through this low point in time and can actually do what other companies won't. Shift into a different gear and start appealing to the masses by expanding on a great theme and adding fun and content into the game. Challenge is ok, but not from square 1 all the way up... unghh unghh.

I am sure that if SoR is not repaired soon, even my old vow never to get hooked on EQ again will probably be broken...Sony is not my favorite company, but they know how to deliver the goods.

You won't see me play Halo 2 (I'm just burned out on the series now). I hopefully will get a DS, but it wont quench my need for mmorpg goodness :D

I'm planning to stick with ryzom through these tough times, that'll be a first for me!

All my friends (IRL) went to EQ2, but they can't sway me - I just don't like Sony, but the game looks nice.

Gogo SoR!

Doubt you will see many people go to halo2, HL2 will definately draw way more (talking mmorpg players here, not all types of gamers)
I got my eq2 box a whole day before it even launched, that kinda sucked :)
Heck, they got it in sweden 5th of november, 4 days before the servers went live

Oh and that EB issue was EB specific, guess someone at EB really messed up as theres hundreds of posts about this on the eq2 forums
