Clarification on unsubscribing

A note during the registration process states that you will lose your account when cancelling your subscription.
This is outdated information and we expect the relevant note to be corrected soon. All accounts will be kept for at least 90 days after cancelling your Saga Of Ryzom subscription.
Sorry for the confusion this has caused!

Ok, here is a scenerio:
I subscribe and pay for the 3 months at a time plan. After 2 months I decide to quit and cancel my account (assuming I can cancel online). Is my acct froze right then and there or does it allow me to still play until the end of my 3rd month, that is already paid for.

You will be able to play until the end of your subscription, regardless of when you decide to cancel it. What you would actually "cancel" is just the process of re-billing your credit card automatically at the end of your subscription.

This is outdated information and we expect the relevant note to be corrected soon. All accounts will be kept for at least 90 days after cancelling your Saga Of Ryzom subscription.
So now it reads:
Warning : If you unsubscribe you will have 90 days to resubscribe or you may lose your characters and be unable to re-use your serial number.
Are you serious? You'll disable my serial number? Of all the MMORPGs out in the market only FFXI does this, and this cost them a few returning customers.
Examples:
I came back to EQ 17 months later, the cd-key worked and the chars were there. I came back to AO 2 years later, everything worked fine. DAoC also kept my cd-key (and chars too) for 1.5 years. I gave them all quite a few extra months of revenue. MS 'kinda lost' my AC1 cd-key when moving to their .Net Passport system and never saw me again.
Do you really mean that if I don't like a game I just paid 50 for today, but am willing to give it a chance in say 6 months, that i'll have to pay another 50? Not gonna happen. (and do I need to mention the other MMORPGs that will be out about 4+ months from today
)
If that is the case it looks like rather a cheap trick to make people think about losing 50 when unsubscribing at the end of the free month, I am afraid you are wrong in assessing the MMORPG player psychology. When something sucks it sucks, and when one thinks about coming back the purchase of another box will more likely remind him too vividly what made him quit in the first place.
I really hope there is a mistake somewhere or I misread the sentance.

Disabling the serial number is pretty serious and I disagree with it.
For many people real life will get in the way and they may not be able to play for an extended period (say 6 months). When they return I doubt many would expect access to their old account, but finding that their entire game is now useless is going to cause some pretty bad press I imagine.
Hope i'm wrong in my understanding of this!

Pointless arguments throughout.

Why are these arguments pointless ? People are
paying for a game and they may not want/be able to play for some period of time. What is being proposed is totally unacceptable.
