Can't launch

Okay, yesterday, I was able to play in the afternoon, then all of a sudden I no longer was able to login. The game kept hanging at the connecting... screen like SOOOOO many others. Now, the game won't launch. I get a debug box that says the following:

A failed assertion occurs
ProcName: client_ryzom_rd.exe
Date: 2004/11/09 22:10:43
File: R:\code\ryzom\src_v2\client\client.cpp

After that, I get a second box that says:

Then, I get a warning message for a runtime error.

I've opened the ports that people noted were needed to connect. I've gone through an entire cleaning of my computer, including virus scans, spyware, defrag, registry cleaning, etc. I've reinstalled the game twice. I've fiddled with the config. I have an up to date version of directx. My son can get on with no problem on his computer through the same network, but I can't. We didn't have this problem yesterday until last night. Note: virus protection and firewall are both disabled. There are no other programs running, they've also been disabled.

Update: Checked my new reinstall folder. Game is now able to start, but when I get to the login screen, put in my login and password and hit connect I get this:

Error: cannot connect (error code 1)

I've checked, the servers are up. I've now done a hard reboot of both my cable modem and router. And rebooted my computer. My son's computer can still connect through the same router.

Okay, just tried this. Cloned my mac address and had the router give my computer a static IP. Then set my computer as the DMZ and no firewall up on my computer, and I still can't connect.

Have you played around with the router settings located here: http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=631 ? There are some noted issues with multiple connections on certain routers, but moving over to the DMZ usually resolves those. Let me know how it works out for you.

As I said, I already opened the ports. Opening the DMZ didn't work. And, there were no changes prior to the ones I tried today to the router before this happened. Yesterday, my son was constantly on in the afternoon and evening. I logged off and have not been able to log on since then, and there were NO changes to the router during that time.

I've tried port triggering, port forwarding, dmz and a variety of other things. We've had three seperate computers running Ryzom at the same time over the network all through the same router. Then all of a sudden, it stopped.

Hmm, that's pretty strange. I doubt it was any specific change on our end. Have you tried contacting your ISP to see if the three simultaneous connections through those specfic UDP ports caused a red flag to pop up?

My ISP doesn't really care what we do. We've had them for years, three to four computers playing just about every other MMORPG out there and never a problem, but yes, I called, and it's not on their end. Plus, as I said, my son's computer, and my mom's both can connect to the game, but mine can't. They can connect at the same time as well.

But, with so many other people having similar issues, and a lot of them starting sometime yesterday as well, I'd say it might very well be your end. So many of us can't have this similar of an issue. That's just IMHO.

Hey, you guys can't do this to me anyways. I actually liked the patch once the patch's patch was patched!

New update. And this is wierd. I rebooted and turned my firewall back on. I set it at a lower setting than I usually have it set. And BINGO.. I can get to the patch screen. I quit, turned OFF my firewall, and can't login. WHAT is up with that?

I'm patching, so dunno if I'll get stuck at the connecting screen or not.

YAY! I got on the game finally.

Of course, it's so late it's time for bed. LOLOLOL

I still like the patch.
