I've been downloading it all night. Not much longer (stupid bittorrent is slow).
Yeah it's nowhere near as pretty (played other beta). But I'm going to put more time into it and see if it's fun. Plus my brother and friends are playing. I'm to frustrated with Ryzom right now to be on very much.

WoW is quite different, but I would not say it's bad. I loved Warcraft3 so it has some cool content I am already familiar with. Not commiting to anything now... got a bit burned on this games ridiculous balancing act.

Been playing wow ob for a day now. Must say it is dumbed down. I don't know any mmo that isn't though.

Well maybe AO is the only exception to the rule with the implant combinations. How a lvl 10 could fit lvl 100 implants in that is very complicated.

Other then that I haven't seen any mmo I have to pull out the calculater for.

I still have my ryzom account not gonna close it I can afford to have 3 mmo's open so no biggie. Don't know which one I will play the most. I love the spell effects of ryzom. I must say wow is fun though. Alot of ppl running around its nice to see that everywhere I go.

Ryzom never had a big pop to begin with. For some reason I don't understand why some good euro mmo's don't get a good publisher. Like neocron very few ppl know about it but its an awsome mmo.

There running 4 servers I think last I was there and maybe less then 3k pop. Each server maybe having 300 ppl on during peek hours. They just came out with Doy (Dome Of York) Expansion. Haven't even seen it in eb.

Neocron did the same thing Ryzom did. They released a decent game and promised tons of great content that they just didn't get the time for in beta.

Then they had a disastrous surprise LOM patch. People lost all their hard earned levels and the company's response was basically "you're all exploiters and deserve it". Overnight they lost 3/4 of their player population. Their servers actually displayed how many people were on. Pre-LOM nerf patch they had 800+ people on the servers all the time. Post-patch it immediately dropped to less than 200 and then they stopped showing how many were on.

They tried a lot of things to get new players, but word of mouth from the old players killed it. Dome of York was supposed to be a free expansion two years ago. Now they've made it into Neocron 2 in a desperate grab to get more players. The parallels between the two are actually very frightening and I wish Nevrax would learn from their predecessors not to repeat the same mistake.

yeah necron had a horrible end... they didn't understood that... a massive multiplayer game is of the players not of the developers. the developers can propose a setting, give it a skelethorn out of it, but it's the players that makes it alive. being hostile to the player is suicidal clear and simple.
as well as trying to make them do what YOU want. that's as much as suicidal.
Sadly the fine art of dming is not learned in one day, most developers thinks that 'content' is some monster invasion, or a big quest, or a big mission for all the players to complete. wrong.
the job here is to garner the player interest piquing their curiosity. Ryzom has good premises... with the karavan, the kami and the goddess jena.. alot of misteries there are... that could be used to the advantage of smart gms, or smart developers to create a truly intriguing storyline, if they are careful enough to get out pieces of informations in a clever way, and are wise enough to have prepared a solid and big background for the world.

but enough, I am not here to lecture them on how to become succeful. I just want the mobs get put back doable in solo.
