Ryzom

Here is a fun one. This started after the Monday patch the second week of last open beta and continues with the retail version.

On my WindowsXP box, when I lauch ryzom, nothing happens. No splash screen, no message. If I check task manager, the process client_ryzom.rd.exe is there, just not doing anything. Sometimes, if I wait 5 minutes or even an hour, the game will just start all of a sudden. The splash screen comes up, and the game plays fine.

After this started happening, reinstalled video driver, audio driver, and directx. Swapped out the graphics card. Installed SP2. Removed all none essential programs. Nothing has made a difference. The process still sits there and sometimes the game will start, and sometimes it wont.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, figured it out. MS ISA Server firewall is the source of the problems.

I already had mine turned off and the first two patches downloaded just fine. It was when it came time for the third patch that it would time out the software patcher. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I already have the firewall down. Thanks,
