When I taunt a mob, I imagine I'm poking it relentlessly until it bites my finger off and tries to kill me. I think you should have to be close, because how else would you taunt it. Yelling "Hey Kipee....Your mom is ugly!" from 50 meters away might not work.

Maybe throw a rock at it?

I don't even bother using taunt anymore. In fact I didn't even train it in the repec. Even when I melee I just use any spell (sleep works really good). You have to get to close with taunt, waste a lot of Skill points on leveling it, it wont work with higher mobs. So much better and easlier just to throw a spell at it. ...and if you have no magic....well that's sad, everyone should have at least healing so they can help the group if there is trouble, so getting one other spell shouldn't be a problem.

With a pike, and full MA, acid 1 enchanted has a 25m range. 5m over taunt, and I can put well over 200 charges on my 680 sap load pike. Good alternative, but can also get adds. Taunt will not aggro life-family mobs nearby it. Which makes it good for pulling out 1 critter from a herd of mobs. And with the changes to skills, they did increase the level caps on the respective taunts. At lvl 125 you can get a taunt that is effective 100% of the time up to level 200 mobs, at 75 its 150. At these levels you shouldn't be fighting things that exceed those ranges (unless you have some b@lls of steel, then more power to ya).

Yes, Ive used spells to taunt the mob but, they have to be alone or any others near by will join in and you know thats not good. What spells do you use rain seems to draw to many. Oh and by the way you are absolutly correct a melee fighter in this game should deffinatly have heal spells at least health and stam. :)

Taunt is just fine how it is. It requires you to use some strategy to pull mobs. Making the distance longer is akin to creating a chain coming down from the sky that you pull to have a monster to fight. Too easy.

Taunt is usefull for other things besides pulling.

Primary tank running close to empty, Taunt. Mob tries to eat your healer, Taunt. Pack of Ragus making Ragu out of somebody solo in the woods, Taunt.

Ya I thought I was like a visionary when I also thought of this and sent it in as a suggestion to the gm's. They didn't agree. Anyways IMO "Rock Chuck" skills should be implemented ASAP. We could forage our own rocks too, or maybe chuck yubo's instead... hmmm this now gives me an idea for an event... Tryker Tossing!
