I want to play a fighter/healer, however I have a problem. Raising fight is easy, but i can't seem to raise defensive magic.

I play mostly in the AM eastern time, so grouping is almost nonexistant. The only time I can find groups is on weekends, when I don't have alot of time to play. The groups I can find are usually a little higher then me, which is OK if I stick to melee. However, with a defensive magic of 24, I get NO exp when healing in a group.

The only way I can see to raise it is to group with lower lv people, however there don't seem to be any around when I'm on.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another way to raise it?

And yes I am healing during combat and not fighting.

only way to raise defensive magic is healing others in combat, or using defensive affliction spells (fear,stun).

Here is one way you can do it. Raise offensive magic to gain some lvls and some sp. In return spend that sp on create sap crystal and stun spells. Then enchant your melee weapon with stun by clicking on your stun spell and selecting "crystalize spell" click on the crystalized spell in your inventory and select enchant right hand. Then create sap crystals and fill up your weapon. Now head into combat, start by using your new enchantment on the mob, then hit it with a melee attack. Wash, rinse, repeat, and by the time your done killing the mob you will have gained xp in both defensive magic and in melee fighting. I offer this suggestion to you as you seem to be unlucky in finding groups where you can concentrate on healing. Good luck to you.

You're likely doing something wrong, in that case. Make sure you're in the team with those you're healing. You also have to heal during the fight -- you'll receive the exact same EXP as everyone else does when the mob dies, in defensive magic. At 24, you could heal anyone, up to the servers' strongest level 200 fighters, and get exp, as long as you're in the same team that gets credit for killing the mob. Healers aren't restricted by level.

EDIT: You can use a method like dandra's to level it solo. It's much faster in a group though, whenever you have the opportunity to get into one.
