I just bought a set of medium armor from a vendor. When opening the stats menu on the armor, there is no color section. In the vendor inventory, it all looks red, but once I purchase it, it shows up in my inventory as whatever color it actually is. This caused me to buy armor in various colors (purple boots, blue gloves and vest, red sleeves and pants). Is there some way to tell color before buying?

Short answer: No.

long answer: look at the secondary stats, for example: light armor dodge = red, light armor high prot = green, etc.

edit: Disclaimer: This does not hold true for 100% of all items.

Unless its made partly with fine or basic mats instead of all choice.

Also, its possible to use only *mostly* choice mats and some fine filler and get a "choice" item. This could result in an unusual colored armor with a labeling that you wouldn't expect. For instance I made choice turqouise tryker heavy armor with dodge modifier one time when I was grinding stuff in my pack.

Generally speaking, tryker heavy dodge armor is blue.

And if it's made from prime root stuff this doesn't apply as well...

you can be glad npcs have started selling armor with colour I ran around in light brown garmaments for several weeks

Thanks for all the help everyone. I agree, I like my colored armor much better than the brown stuff the NPCs used to sell.
