Bomb Ricochet Spray

Post by gaspode1 »

Hi all, I've just hit level 50 with a magician. It's now post patch 1 and patch 1 'fix'. I play solo & wondered if anyone had any thoughts on whether any of the above are worth having and if so which is best.

Looking at the descriptions spray seems least attractive but maybe it changes as you progress and get updates. As always, I want to spend the skill points wisely but it is difficuly to know which, if any, of the above 3 are worth having.

Any thoughts/advice would be gratefully received.

For solo play i can not recomend any of the above. Taking multiple mobs other than the weakest is very hard to do as a solo mage.

If you are in a group bomb is very useful for healing everyone at once. Have not found it very useful to use with combat spells yet. But atleast in beta bomb got more useful for combat at lvl 100-150 so it could become more useful at higher levels.

bomb 1 and 2 are virtually useless for healing, they rarely land on more than the person you cast them on, and the reduced healing factor and increased cost makes it not worth it if you manage to land it even on 2 people

Pre patch 1 , bomb was wondefull for group healing.
Currently its usless for anything.

On testing I found - they have implemented the stated maximum target.
ie the lvl 50 area effects hit a maximum of 2 targets. For reduced effect.

The stated effect factors were [for me] an overstatement.
When testing I did more damamge to one target, than total dammage I did to two targets with ricochet.

For now , just dont bother.

er correct me if wrong but was bomb 1 not always spose to be max of 2 targets and prepatch it was a bug cause it was healing more??? the higher lvl bomb the more targets it affected?

or you could decimate a whole mob of yubos which is always fun but now u can only kill 2 which i think is pretty fair enuff cause bomb spray and richochet are high level spells :)

I prefer bomb over spray myself post patch though imo not got richochet yet
and its very usefull to kill medium mobs quickly to gather mats quickly if yer short of cash ;P just split the cost of spell between sap and hp and bobs yer aunty

What I think he is refering to is the fact that pre-patch bomb had 100% power per target while post-patch bomb only have 40%. Add the extra cost in and you have to hit 3 targets to do equal damage/heal as a single target spell.

yes but i still dont think the 100% power pre patch was spose to be the case (not 100% sure long time ago i had bomb heh in beta and im going on a memory on a discussion about bomb in a post from months ago :P )

I do see the point in cost to dmg/heal ratio, though with a little editing its still quite dooable

Hm, I wasn't saying that pre patch was right, like a lot of things it may well have been too good.

But, while they fixed the area effect spells so that they only hit the intended number of targets. The dammage seems to have been dropped below the intended figure.[stated as 0.7 for bomb or ricochet 1]

This might be due to the patch 1 mob health reduction, a legitimate worry for the devs.[ Imagine a caster killing mobs worth some , if limited xp by the bucketload - in one cast.]

On the other hand , if you attack a whole group of mobs , without killing them all very fast. you die.

And it means the area effects are now largely usless for group healing too.
