Ryzom

I got a free key from the buddy program from my friend and i downloaded and installed ryzom. I try to launch and couldnt get it to work. So i went to my friends nad created free acount. To my surprise i couldnt play cause i needed to pay $1 with a credit card. I thought it was free and i dont currently have a credit card. Am i doing something wrong or the company lieing?

As far as i know you get charged for 1 $ which will be refunded immediately - thats because you need a valid payment option to play the saga of ryzom. the trial time is free, you just need to enter your credit card data for validation.

They do this to verify that you are 18, the $1 charge is just ran through, but not actually charged to the account. Just used to verify, many companies (online and offline) have this policy. Be it Shadowbane, ffxi (for its free month trial they gave), blockbuster, hollywood video, and others. Just a heads up on that. They do have in the EULA about needing to be 18, or have your parents permission, I believe, this is one way to verify that.
