Good morning all:
I have decided to express some of my thoughts, hopefull succinctly. Firstly,
a) to those of you who dislike patch 1, I mostly agree with you;
b) to those of you who like patch 1, I mostly disagree with you.
Many have expressed their views and it is to be hoped that this continues. I have enjoyed this game for many weeks, despite some 'concerns' for the last couple of days.
Despite being an semi-old semi-bitter MMORPGer, my experiences with Nevrax lead me to believe that patch 1 aint over yet. I think many, many of us have experienced Nevrax's great customer service and overall responsiveness. If they are not perfect .... well, maybe next week or the week after.
Patch 1 is yet young. There is no way I am deciding anything drastic about a good game like Ryzom without waiting a reasonable while to see what plays out. We will not see a game with the potential of Ryzom any time soon. Hence,
I CHALLENGE all of us 'disgruntled ones' to hang in there until .... what? .... say? .... November 15th (for lack of any better ideas). 10 days. That should give us a chance to see what direction things are going.
Meanwhile, keep smiling (it fools most folk) and have a nice day.

Re: I Challenge You
Let's be honest, Nevrax has made mistakes in the past but then again who hasn't?
A good and recent example of a bad mistake: Patch 1 harvest.
Nevrax has also been good at correcting mistakes.
A good and recent example of a correction: Mini-patch harvest.
Guild chat was flooded with "Harvesting is actually enjoyable again!" and similar statements.
Looks like there is another mistake: Combat.
Nevrax has also attempted to fix that mistake: Mini-patch combat.
They don't have it quite right yet but I have no doubt that I'll soon see "Combat is actually enjoyable again!"

Re: I Challenge You
We can more than hope. Newbies cannot even kill suckling yubos. Of course Nevrax is aware of this and shall fix it ASAP.
I hope Nevrax staff all went home, got drunk, whatever, had a good sleep, and come back to work ready to start a new day.

I didnt even spend my harvesting SP till lastnight. I didnt have to try it after Patch 1 went in to know how messed it was going to be.gralen wrote: Guild chat was flooded with "Harvesting is actually enjoyable again!" and similar statements.
OMG .. harvesting is much much better than it was before Patch 1. Sure to some people the XP isnt the same, but for me it was slightly higher and I could pull over twice the mats an hour than I use to (i stopped using mat spec long before they turned it off). Over about an hour of time I had 1 gas cloud and 2 explosions. I got over 100 mats and the only downtime was moving from one spot to another.
This is how harvesting should have been in the beginning.

Re: I Challenge You
If I didn't love the game so much I wouldn't be moaning as loudly as I have the past few days....However, my account though cancelled doesn't run out until Dec. 1. I'll be watching the boards as there are a couple of posters out here whose opinions I trust - who are neither rah rahing for the game with blinders on nor trashing it with wild abandon - but rather offering examples of what's happening and how it's affecting them. When those people say that it's gotten better - that suckling yubos aren't taking out level 2 toons - when gingos of any level aren't spawning 2 and 3 at a time and biting your butt while you're still quartering the dead one - when there's a chance that my level 36 in heavy armor with a pike on noob island won't be killed by a weanling yubo for god's sake! - then I'll believe that the game has been restored to a fun experience and I'll come back. Until then - my account stays cancelled and I'll look for a game that matches what I consider fun elsewhere.

I also didn't play between patch one and the mini patch that followed. This was mainly because it took me so long to patch that I didn't have time to actually play on Wednesday.jesder wrote:I didnt even spend my harvesting SP till lastnight. I like the new harvesting better also. I get a lot less experience now but not to the point where I cannot still advance. Being in the high 80s I was coming into one of the slow stretches for advancing harvest skill anyway.
The new system though slower in advancement is more fun because I have to decide midstream whether or not to apply care actions. This gives a more active role than the old system.
I find myself getting a higher quantity of lower quality material but since my crafting skill has always been well behind my foraging skill, this actually works out OK for me as well.
Combat still needs adjustment but I am confident we will see some of that before the weekend is out.

Re: I Challenge You
I managed to kill a suckling yubo with a newbie, NOT a level one in all classes, and NOT neked or spawn equipped.
BUT I am a STUBBORN red headed Irish American Texas (I tend to have a BIT of a temper, and when I get MAD I get MULEHEADED). SO...I have enough will for TEN determined players.
I harvested my way to 11 (wow took 20 minutes, *shocked gasp*), then crafted my way to almost 11, sold the junk, and bought FULL Q20 heavy armor, the BEST in Fyros noobie(you didn't think I was going to try this on another race now...did ya?) and I bought my favorite wep combo, sword/dagger, both of either Damage or speed.
Then I went out and nuke pulled a yubo. First time was close...he won. Oh well, harvest ONE Q20 node POOF, dp gone.
Next try, I nuked TWICE, then got lucky and he died.
I leveled on ONE Yubo, nice, time to train Self heal HP. Then it was easier. Just make sure HP heal is up, and use it EVERY Yubo.
Skills I needed to get this Roid raged Yubo DEAD:
Started with action of Magic, craft forage
Bought basic prospecting at level 3
bought Q20 harmful ASAP
bought Q20 gentle ASAP
Bought more focus ASAP
bought Self heal HP FIRST dead yubo
bought increased damage SECOND leveling
then bought more HP and regen
I got to level 8 fighter off a FEW yubo and lucked out and found a battle scarred Gingo (less than ten percent health) and helped the yubo kill him, poor yubo died...oh well. I got level 8 fighter off this gingo.
I proved that...if you think outside of the gaming box and approach things in a less than MUST KILL IT *die* *repeat* repeat* concept...it can be done.
I still agree that they needed to RE patch combat to the point that Yubos were not so...how did that other player put it...Oh yeah...BEEFY.
