Cleaner Mobs?

Last night, while travelling from fleeting gardens through heretic's hovel area and beyond, we ran into something extremely odd. Someone casted on a nettled gnoof and a few of them attack our group of about 30 people. It and a vicious gnoof started wiping out people left and right, til everyone died. Looking at my system window I noticed something strange... That last vicious gnoof hit me for 5285 dmg!!!

Some one mentioned that there are cleaner mobs designed to wipe whole parties out. Is this true? Why are there mobs much tougher than their name suggests? Why can it do more dmg than you can possibly get, even at level 250? Is there some kind of bug?

Anyone else experience this? As far as I know, vicious gnoofs should only be between levels 130-150. So how do they manage to do more damage than even the toughest mobs in the game?

I was in the group at the time this happened so I can vouch for that. 5500 on someone else. I was taken out by a Torbak that just happened to spawn out of god knows where.

The rumour has it that last night there was a large number of guilds who decided to try to get the teleporter positions for all the major cities in the game. The rumor is that the gms to prevent a mad rush so everyone could get the location may have put your so called cleaner creatures in the transition zones to prevent this.

Of course it's just a rumor...but alot of people last night were concerned that the info about when they were going to make the trek should not be leaked to the gms for fear of that type of retaliation.

Wether it's true or not we may never know, but it would explain why such enormous amounts of damage could be inflicted by creatures who normally wouldn't be able to do so.

Perhaps tho if you read the story on the front page you came acrossed one of the mutated creatures in which the story refers too. We probably won't be able to verify either of these ideas till after patch1 goes live and more people attempt the trek.

Well I happen to know thats not possible. The gms in the game do not have the POWER to alter or place mobs in your path. They simply have not been given the tools to do that. So how pray tell did they manage that? I wonder if it was mutated creatures, if so, you would think it would have a different name like mutated vicious gnoof...

Other than those mobs, we never really encountered anything else out of the ordinary. If they were trying to stop us, then we would have never made it to Zorai. Our group finally did at around 3am EST.

No vicious gnooves (gnoofs? gnoof? oh nevermind) are just like that, always have been. One cleaned me out for 7k last night fun stuff. I remember in first Beta they would only do it once and then would hit normally. was a real damper on the mage mass death bombing.

Gnoofs are interesting buggers hitting for immense amounts of dmamge, 1 week or so ago, one hit me for 12k, so it was not an evil attempt by the Gms
to wreck your journey. Get your group together and don not attack gnoofs.
Be glad thet they are not aggro :p

Well, still that seems an excessive amount of damage for a lower level creature. Perhaps someone put an extra digit in its damage stats by mistake?

the reason iv heard for that incredible amount of damage is that xasher actually hacked into the game core at the same time as aliens invaded the white house and when the secret service used the gamma rays to divert ppls attention it caused a strange signal between xashers computer and the hacked game core, resulting in a overflow of super-one (extra super duper signals filled with digital numbers), thus generating a mutation on some of the creatures in the game code.

nevrax has by now hired a killer monkey trained deep in the mountains of shaolin territory and eliminated xasher and replaced his family with look alikes.

the gms are now using superman boost aura to fight the mutated creatures and soon they are all eliminated, so we can all go back to normal gameplay.

hmmm thats not gonna work... The aura will probably not last long enough. The refresh time is a killer too.

Wow looks like the CIA planted LSD laced candy is having its affect o0 Gotta LUV those conspiracy theories, only trouble is...some people ACTUALLY buy into them. Other than that, some of them make for interesting reading.
