Hi

I am now a lvl70 2h melee and lvl 30 off. magic and lvl 19 harvester

My plan was to make a Battlemage.. (heavy fighter with minor offencive spells)

I main used all the pts on stats and have only focus'ed on leveling in increased damge and in acid.. (meaning that I have used 70 % of all earned harvesting pts on stats too)

Is this the "best" way to do it ?.. would like to know so after the patch I can re-configure the char... (I know some also spend alot pts on fancy moves .. circular attack..berserk etc. but are they worth it ?)

I'm not the most expert of mages - but a couple of thoughts for you to consider:

1.) Special moves most certainly are worth it - but which to take depends on your weapons/style. Circular attack I use heavily, feint is useless to me, but it'll be different for others. Unfortuntely the time for testing this stuff is over (before the patch) - so you might consider starting a "test" character with one of your other slots (tedious though).

2.) For battlemage - think seriously about getting the sap crystal ine of spells. In a fight, armour and heavy weapons will seriously gimp your spellcasting ability, except for spells cast through your weapon! There is nothing to stop you having a load of sap crystals in your pack ready to recharge between fights. (I'm advocating casting spells through enchanted weapons here - something few players seem to do, so far, probably becasue of the pain of recharging).

the reason many people dont bother with spell/sap crystals is the fact that if you make one and it gets stuck in your temp inventory the only way you can retrieve it from there is by crafting and not everyone is a crafter so many bugs with sap crystals even since beta that its become quite a joke to the player base

But sap crystals weigh nothing , and you get a lot of slots in your personall inventory. So you can carry 50 sap crystals around without effecting your play.
Also it only takes 1 craft action to fix the bug , so carrying q 1 amber and a q1 seed is enough [ earing , gained with lvl 1 jewel crafting].

Also note that you can carry various spell crystals around. Enchanting an item overwrites any old spell on the item. If your fast with a mouse you can do this mid combat.

Enchanted weapons are great imo, sure there a pain to recharge but having a stun or fear spell on a gun makes suviving much easier. And using them raises my magic skill which i cant be bothered to raise normaly, and the fact enchantments are instant cast instead of taking up a whole attack action and they cant be interupted makes them all the better.
