Refering to the Impressions Post and GM's

While I have read every post so far on this board about the upcoming patch 1, and it's positive/negative affects on the game ( not just harvesting ), and have voiced my opinions on it, that is not what this post/thread is about. Before I get started I would like to ask one thing of anyone who posts a reply to this.
PLEASE do not start bashing other peoples opinions in this thread, if you feel the need to do so please go to their guild forums or start your own thread.
With that said let me get to the point of this thread. After playing MMO-RPG's for 10 years +, one of the biggest, and most impressive things I discovered in Ryzom was the attention payed by GM's/Dev's/CSR's to their customers/players opinions and posts. That being said, I'm very disappointed in the response received in a 21 page thread. While I understand many immature comments were made in that thread I also know that just as many if not more intelligent well thought out points were brought up in the thread that should have been addressed in some form or fashion by the management of this game. As it is currently we now know that the folks on the upper level have read the posts, but we are left to make our own assumption as to how they feel about it.
I ask of you as the creators of the game please give us an answer regarding these issues, I realize you may not be able to say:"We are canceling the patch" or anything to that affect in regards to the patch but a simple comment that the dev team has reviewed the players stand point and are considering it or are choosing to move ahead would be nice.
Thank you,
Noxian

Strongly agree. The silence has been simply deafening. And frankly, unacceptable.

Let me start out by saying I understand that cerest and the other people paid to support this game have to be very carefull about what they say for two reasons. One is that the people writing their paychecks dont want them saying certain things. I know I would not risk being fired for saying something to a customer that has not been approved of by the higher ups. The other issue is much more complex and is actually the fault of the players. Anything said by any paid employee tends to be misinterpreted and treated as fact. If they give an ETA on something and the date slips they get backlash, even if they said it was not a solid date. One example is when cerest used the word exploit in a thread without actually saying something was an exploit. Suddenly you had people who did not actually read the entire post saying cerest called something an exploit.
For these reasons I can understand why we are not getting much information. I also know that some of the reasons for changes should not be told to the players. This is the case for design changes made to prevent/fix exploits. There is also the "the devs just didnt like it" reasons. I left UO after talking with the lead designer who basicly told me they wanted to make the game easier and that was why they were putting in some changes that I was involved with QA testing. Now if this reason was told to the players without any real spin on it, I am sure many others would have been upset as well.
I am not saying I support the silence on issues that the community feels are very important, however I do understand why it tends to happen with MMOGs.

Another reason why we are not hearing much is that the GM crew is not related to Nevrax and the devs directly but rather a hired 3rd party group ( see
http://www.themis-group.com ).
So the most they can do is deliver the message to the devs, I believe they are doing a good job at that but they have not much power or influence on any of the decision making.

Which makes it even worse. I heard Cerest was not a nevrax employee, but never really knew one way or the other.

What do you expect them to say? You guys are looking in the wrong direction barking at Cerest and company. Frankly, this fire needs to be taken to the haystacks of the actual development company - not widdle Cerest.
Unfortunately, Nevrax has been awfully arrogant in their stance and take little advice/comment from the GMs, Reps, etc.
Get your pitch forks! It's dev-ass-forkin' time!

If you're looking for a response from the GM's or the game company, I'll see what I can do by peeking inside the mind of a game developer:
We appreciate your comments and take your concerns to heart. Please allow us the opportunity to complete the work we've spent many months preparing for you. We feel that if you give the patch a chance and keep an open mind you'll find that the concerns spectulated and debated on this forum aren't unsurmountable and you'll find the game improved and more balanced.
We are unable to make comments in direct response due to the shear volume of work and we do not want to give one group of players preference over another.
Thank you for your patronage and continued support,
Caio!

How's that?
disclaimer:
I am not a GM, game developer or an employee of the game company
the above is simply a personal response to days of negative posts regarding Patch 1.

Nicely put and I agree. It seems that there are a few people who have played on ATS and are unsatisfied with the changes, and so they are raising a huge stink here, bawling repeatedly about the same points and presenting their opinions as near fact. It seems to me that those few people fall into the category of power-gamers. I think that when the patch hits the general public of the game, the response will be different than we've seen so far from the elite few.
