Game/Guild Politics

As with every MMO, there are always a few large guilds that form an alliance and try to force their beliefs and wants on all the players. Even if they aren't a part of the larger guilds. And just like every game there is always the chance that smaller guilds voices get lost or ignored. So I was wondering if there were any plans by Nevrax to implement some sort of governmental system among the players and the guilds. Maybe like a UN type of setup where each guild has an equal say in issues that might arise?

I've just seen all to often where a few guilds try to represent all players and it should never be that way.

Well, we could always stage a revolt and/or start an underground community spreading propaganda and misleading the public to achieve our aim and bring down the monarchy/anarchy/dictatorship that is the government today.
oh... no... thats what well have to do if what you are suggesting is implemented :D
dont you think there is enough of that in rl ?

shouldn't that be each player gets a say? Members of large guilds pay the same $ as members of smaller guilds do.

Unfortunatly in game always reflects real life. And much like in real life, the little guy never seems to get heard.

Its a sad fact of life, survival of the fittest :)
we could always strive to make the system a democracy...see how long it lasts ..

What issues are we talking about? I haven't seen anything like this in game. I don't think we need any sort of UN type group. In my opinion, guilds are like countries, they each make up their own rules.

So lets say we do make a UN type organization, and they decide to ban killing cute little Yubos. If I go on a Yubo killing spree, what is anybody going to do about it? Are we going to create a judicial system and have prisons? I don't think so.

That is why a guild is the largest group I think that can make a decision. They enforce their rules by kicking out anyone who doesn't follow the rules.

If PvP was allowed everywhere, enforcement might be possible on a larger scale. But since that would mean no one is free to enjoy the PvE environment without being attacked all the time, it wouldn't work.

My solution: Join a guild you agree with and follow their rules. Lets not pretend that their are huge world-wide issues to vote on, because there aren't. All I care about is what I am doing or what a group I am involved with is doing.

Maybe as more storyline gets added, there will be bigger issues to decide on, and this whole topic will be relevant in some way. But for now, just kill the Yubo in front of you, and don't worry about what the player next to you is doing.

I believe that Raynes was talking about game issues, not in-game issues. Such as patch one and two or three of the 'big' guilds complaining and saying they are all going to quit.

In-game, I'm actually pretty sure there will be a lot of politicing. :)

You are right, guilds are like countries. The point of a orginization like the UN is to make sure that there is agreement amoung the majority of countries, no matter how small. So if there is a issue, a small country like Costa Rica (though I'm not sure they are part of the UN) can express their view and be heard.

I'll give you an example. When outposts come into play and guilds can start building on land. Shouldn't there be some sort of governing body that makes sure a smaller guild can get a place to build just like a larger guild? Or are we headed down the road where a guild of 500 members can do whatever they want and push a guild of 25 members around?

You say we don't need it now, but may in the future. Wouldn't now be the time to start to discuss laying the groundwork and setting up how something like this would work?

Yup. If they want to they can. Like in every other MMORPG out there.
