@WoW
1. community is very likely to be what is commonly called kiddies a.k.a. players who don't care much about interaction and story, but more about being l33t and highlevel (if you don't believe my words, go and read some wow related message boards, i had some very funny reads there ^^)
2. the graphics are really toony, granted, it's a matter of taste, but a huge turn-off for me
3. the quest system is now in it's final state according to blizzard and it is nothing more than the quests ryzom offers plus some narrative, they can at times even be downright stupid,
ex.:
- go kill 5 low mob type a, return to me
- go kill 5 medium mob type a, return to me
- go kill 5 high mob type a + boss, return to me to get reward
that is then called story =)

You don't need 3 reasons to play or not to play.

If you enjoy it, play.

If you don't, don't.

First you need to give me 3 good questions to answer.

If you need someone to give you a reason to stay in Ryzom, then you should have already left ...

Let me give you a clue as to what makes MMOGs good .. Other People.

I dont care how good the game is, without a good community the game will die. I am guessing you have not found a good group of people to play with in Ryzom. Else you would not be asking this here.

Apparently so.. Mind I just came from 8 months of Planetside (the worst community ever)

CoH is almost worth the $$ just for the character creation. By far the best of any game anywhere. The game itself is indeed fun, but it's not really a "long-term" type of game. I played it alot for a couple months, now I just log on for a bit here or there. I think the PVP might make that game interesting, however.

If $40 won't hurt too much, I'd say pick up a copy.

That's the only way you'll find out if you like it no matter how many people give you how many reasons.

If you have any friends or know anyone who lives nearby who plays, ask them if you can come over for a day and borrow their system to test it out on. You should know after a day whether you will enjoy it or not.

Planetside, (and guildwars) are completely different types of games. They arn't MMORPGs, but rather, MMOFPS. Not that that is a bad thing, they are just utterly different games.

*wonders why people can't simply straight-out answer the man's questions*
are they this difficult to answer properly?

My greatest problem with CoH is that for all of the great stuff they packed into the game it is 95% superficial, Once the dazzle began to clear from my eyes (after about 6 weeks of regular play) I realized that there is almost no substance at all to the game. Very soon thereafter, I left.
