question about other land's mats

serious newb question here.

the other day i was farming bodokin for mats to give a fyros friend for crafting. i get him a few eyes and some horns to make an amp with. i bring em over to him in Pyr and give them to him. he tries to use them and it won't let him select them in the crafting screen.

so then i take them back and try crafting a sword with the horns, and i can.

my friend then gives me some choice fyros mats to craft some armor with and i can't use them.

i go to a raw mat merchant in Pyr and buy some basic mats, and i CAN use those.

You can use basic and fine mats from any land for any crafting skill. Choice and above are race specific. Mats from Prime Roots are not race specific.

Look at the mats ... alot specify they are for a specific race.

Right above the durability.

Mats are land specific exept :
- basic
- fine
- prime mats.

For exemple, you can harvest some choice or excellent Desert mats in north Matisland, that only Fyros can craft, because Fyros craft is Desert-mats based and Matis craft is Forest-mats based.

do these "race specific" materials actually have any stat difference between them? like if i were to look at the stats of a choice cuty shell from the lakelands and one from the forest would i see a difference?

I haven't been able to test this, but my understanding is that these materials are not race specific to the point that only 1 race can use, but that they can only be used in patterns of the race. For example a tryker in fyros can use fyros mats to make fryos armor.

If someone has patterns from other lands, please try ths out and let me know

-_-

thats the lamest limitation i have ever heard!

race specific mats should have different stats so the well traveled and well versed forager/crafter and combine the mats in such a way to create a truely awesome item.

instead i have to travel to a different land and get different mats to craft the same exact item that just looks different!

...... pleh....

so, there is really no reason to visit different lands other than to meet new players, check out the scenery and local wildlife. while i enjoy doing those things theres not much to make me com back now is there?

As of today that is correct. I am not sure if it will be changed in an upcoming patch or if it is intended this way, it would be nice to get an official comment on this though before I invest points into fyros crafting and then later cannot use the mats anymore because it gets changed.

Currently you can use choice/excellent/supreme mats of another race if you also possess that races patterns and crafting skill. It is pretty nice that way imho.
