The bigger the critter, the more XP. a group killing a critter get shared XP. The loot dropped by the critter is used by crafters to make armour and weapons. ideally a guild would be made up of complimentary characters, Foragers, these get wood resin oil etc from the ground. Crafters take these materials and make stuff. Fighters get in close and whale on the critters til they're dead. Mages can heal fighters and use ranged attacks on critters. The whole group working to gether gets XP from each of their endevours and then share the spoils, the fighters give the loot to crafters, the crafters give the fighters bigger weapons to kill bigger critters etc. there is also a racial tension thing going on between the tribes but it's pretty involved.
The bottom line is, you can kill anything, but as you become more powerful, you get less XP from lesser critters.

Dont think Ryzom gives the same teambonuses as AO does.
Atleast not in the same way.

As far as i know its a equal spitt Mob-xp/members in team.
But that havent been a big problem for me yet.
Max xp is 3000 for 1 person for 1 mob(regardless of soloing or teaming, abit like the xp cap in AO).
Atleast i tend to get that when teaming.

But xp in ryxom is a bit more complicated than in ao.
In ao all xp you get is put in same xp pool.
In ryzom you have a lot of different xp-pools.
Like Fighting or/and Magic (at start, more complicated later).

In AO its called Rocks, in ryzom its crabs.
Atleast at my level.
You will always find a mob that yield best xp vs effort/danger in any game.
But maybe hecklers in AO is too "outstanding".

Hi there another AO veteran here, i loved AO but left it for lineage 2 :/ big mistake, i have now left lineage 2 for ryzom.

Ryzom is amazing....much better than lineage 2 and even AO, and is going to get even better with the next patches...

The xp earned in a team in Ryzom is not equally split between the members, it depends on how high level you are in comparison to the monster and the amount of damage / support you do during the battle.

Hmm pretty hard to explain this :/ so stick with me......

Lets say for example you are the following levels :-

20 mellee fight
20 offensive magic
10 defensive magic

You are in a group with 2 others who have a lower fight skills at lvl 10 and you are fighting a lvl 30 mob.....(still with me ???)
They would both melle the mob to get good xp, as melle fight are their lowest skills, while you would support both these by using heal spells. Fighting a monster in this way would ensure that each member gets the most xp possible from this monster.
You will get much less xp if you for example pull the monster with a ranged offensive spell then continue to heal the party members as the xp will be split between both skills, but will also be reduced as you have used a higher lvl skill.
This would be shared equally if both skills were around the same lvl.

It is alsoworth remembering also the max xp you can get from a monster is 3000

Hope this helps.

my experience so far...

i'm still on newbee island but my friend is 30+ melee and 10+magic and i was starting with magic 20+ and melee 5+

here what happened when i fought some of the monsters on that island...

if i fought a normal encounter for me using magic and he healed me we got a split of about 500 xp each

if i fought a monster and i killed it without him casting i had 1000xp and he had 0

if he fought the same monster and i healed we both got about 35xp(was way too easy for him)

So this makes for interesting situations depending on your skill level the xp for the same monster will vary greatly, from what i can see is that the xp is based on how you fight it, melle, range or magic, vs the difficulty for you to kill it.

so even though you friend will be a lot higher then you you can still team up and he can benefit from grouping. the xp will be of course split if you use melee and magic in the same encounter.

There is a team bonus
I kill a kipee with magic and get 1700xp
i kill kipee with a friend who is same level magicas me, and we get 1100 each

bigger bonuses in bigger teams (3 people would proberly get 900 each, for example)
