Spin offs

The folks behind SoR have already put massive time and effort into creating a rather unique game world mythos. Why not liscens that out to a pencil and paper RPG company?

There are many unique monsters in SoR and the races are not the elf dwarf orc standard issue, so why not liscens out action figures and or table top game?

Each of those could very well light a fire under folks' tails and bring em into the mmorpg and would cost Nervax little to no additional cost and or manpower.

Ever try to play this or any online game at camp? What about where you can NOT get internet? Hard to play it on a road trip, but if you had paper, and pencils and a PDA (for the dice, not like you would carry TEN POUND dice boxes on a car trip)

I know that there will ALWAYS be paper and pencil role playing games. And room for this game too.

I think that this game would easily transition from online into a box, OR into a BOOK series (Anne McCaffree fans would LOVE it...I know...I am one of them)

Perhaps you are correct lyra. I'd like to take this time to challenge any budding authors out there to start writing a few short stories centered around Atys and their respective civilizations.

***I will have to disqualify myself :( as I currently am shopping a manuscript***

Perhaps, if this thread gets enough hits, our very own Cerest will make a separate forum for the players' to have their work exhibited (and voted upon) :)

Heh. Oh, good. The perfect opporutnity to plug the work some of us are doing in the RP forum, which just does not get enough hits. ;) Oh, yeah, and there is another one in the UK forums; and if oyu can read German or French, you can look there. Also, I think the original "All Languages" RP Forum is still up, but not sure if peeps are still posting there.

Excellent idea, books and a paper rpg. I would buy it, hell thousands of everquest players bought the everquest pen and paper game if only for the fluff contained in it. It would give the players an opportunity to get back story straight from the horses mouth per say.

By the way if you haven't watched kaena, i would, excellent movie, very inovative similar to this game.

The idea behind my original post in this thread was not to produce spin offs that would appeal to us, the already payin online players..but spin offs that would amount to extended, free, enhnaced publicity and exposure FOR this online game.

This game is having its share of birthing pains, of course, but I do like it. I really do enjoy the character flexiblity and the depth of the game mythos.

I would like to see it succeed financially. I hope it does very well in the market.

The liscencing suggestions/ideas were offered with that in mind.

Make buzz!! Spread the word!! Ryzom is here and it's KICKIN!!
