Heya,
I am playing a primary caster (light armour) who occasionally dual wields a dagger and sword if needed. At present, I only have 30 Fight, have basic 20q light amour, and am still on noob Mantis island. I have some spare Fight points, and was wondering what skill tree to invest in for the "after dodge" vs. "after parry" options. I know how to switch modes between dodge and parry, but really can't see any differences or benefits when I do. I have heard some theories that the (future) amour bonues have an impact, light versus heavy, and that 1hd versus dual wield versus 1hd/shield may all alter the equation. So, my questions are if either skill line is useful in my current case, and which would be better?
Thanks.
Thomas

(in reply to your question, imo use dodge as 99% of armor is dodge based)

Lol they dont work at all anymore
Re: Dodge Versus Parry
I use dodge exclusively. Works quite well, even after the patch. The only caveat was I had to re-make my armor (after the patch my armor became Basic with Dodge Modifier, I remade it as Choice with Dodge Modifier, all better). When you come to the mainland, ask for max dodge armor, several crafters are going to be able to help you make it.geneseto wrote:Heya,

Nice thing about saying "dodge" is that it's one skill that works with every form of melee fighting monster. There are other protection factors (piercing, smashing, etc) which I don't know anything about, so I can't say there.
I personally prefer dual wield, because I'll run around with a sword and dagger, and if I see a Gingo, I'll switch to dagger/dagger for twice the damage over time. As I understand it, sheilds are not very useful yet.

I am curious, are you using heavy armor? I am hearing different things from different people concerning the effectiveness of dodge with heavy armor.dpkdpk wrote:I use dodge exclusively. Also, can you tell me anything about parry? Have you tried high parry weapons?

I'm using heavy armor, Choice Modi built with 99 dodge (according to the create screen)eschiava wrote:I am curious, are you using heavy armor? I am hearing different things from different people concerning the effectiveness of dodge with heavy armor.

I'm not sure about my weapons or parry, haven't tried parry. I'm not even really sure how to create high parry items. Is it the "parry" value or the "adversary parry modifier"(I think it was called?) value that I want to boost?
It'll take a while for me to get the mats necessary to test it but I'm willing, so long as I understand what the values are supposed to mean.
