This guest hostile approach reminds me of the SWG boards when they got closed because so many complaints were felt to be putting people off. Thankfully SOE opened the boards to guest browsing once more before a European release or I wouldn't have bought that game blind either.
Sorry if this is a duplicate, I can't search either...
Hi -- This has been discussed many times, in great detail.
This link covers most of it and then from this link are links to other threads, if you are interested in further reading.

We're not going to debate this from scratch again. I don't think anyone would want to go through all that again.
Your points are understood but we stand by the fact that the registered forums are private. They are for the support and enjoyment of the paying players and that isn't going to change.
Thanks,

No can read = no can buy, for me at least and I suspect I'm not alone.
Still, at least the slow increase in subscribers should mean more stable, if empty, servers.
Endless bug discussions? No. Ryzom. like any game, is not without its bugs, but I can honestly say as one who has launched 4 MMORPG games, this is unquestionably the smoothest and most bug free game launch I have witnessed to date. I am sure that such a as this will raise claims of fanboi-ism (and I'm a girl
)) but I am stating a simple fact nonetheless.

Well, the official site is not the only place to get informations about the game, you know...
there are plenty of other forums to get informations. fansites for example. stratics and warcry both have great fansites with forums. there are also some smaller independent fansites out there...

And one reason im personally pleased that guests cant get into the main forums is so they dont get full of objectionable material off of people who dont play the game and just come along to spam, so do as i did look around more for info. then buy the game and play it get in the forums and join in
but who in their right mind would want to make paying customers have to read endless whining complaints from people who dont even pay or play?
at least here we hear the real stories and problems and not spam.
