Did anyone else got an email with a free key to invite a friend for a 14 day trial? Already desperate for costumers?

desperate? more like sound marketing strategy. Afterall, they ARE an underdog.

That said, its probably not a good idea to do it so soon with so much missing, but they're probably feeling the pressure of WoW preparing to launch and EQ2 beta picking up steam.

It's a great gesture to offer the free trials for friends. I noticed this suggestion in the forums last week, and already it has been carried out. Excellent job listening to customers Nevrax.

Buddy Trials are very effective. I know I'll be giving it to one of my friends who have been hesitant to buy it. The question is....WHICH one of my friends will be getting it? Let the games begin!

I, for one, applaud Nevvy for getting these free trials out there. Buddy Trials are really what got Planetside going again after its first 6 months.

The thing you have to understand, Raul, is that Ryzom is out there, but being overshadowed by all the other MMO's, it isn't getting the attention it needs. This Buddy Trial is perfect for spreading the word.

Now it's just up to us, the players, in getting that word out there by putting these free trials to use.

I got one, and think it's great...I know a bunch of people who are a bit leery on spending $50-60 cdn on a game before they've played at all. Is there anywhere to download the client, tho?

Aren't free trials pretty much a standard at this point?
I think FFXI is the only of those that I've tried that doesn't have a trial period.

Alot of people are on the fence about whether to try Ryzom or not. I know some of them personally.. They like how it looks, they like what they've heard and seen of it, but they're a bit hesitant to plop down $45 without knowing what they're getting.

I think the Buddy Code idea is good, too, because who isn't going to trust the recommendation of a friend? And, in the case of a friend, you have someone to show you the ropes and get you into the swing of things.. I think it's a great idea.

Yes, FFXI and also any NCsoft game. Lineage 2 and City of Heroes has yet to take advantage of the awesome powers known as Free Trials.
