Global Fame

As far as I can tell the global fame number is the total of all the other fame numbers. So the question I have is if that number actually means anything? As in does it effect game play at all?

When quests are put in fame will have a huge effect especially for guilds on who will be 'controlling' the storyline...at least as far as ive heard...also it lessens the prices.

actually, personal fame controls the prices. Once you max global, you can continue upping personal fame to better prices. Just an FYI.

You misunderstand my question. I know that fame wil have some effects on gameplay. My question is what about the global fame number? There are 4 types of fame in the game. There is personal, guild, civilization, and global. It's pretty self explainatory that the guild fame number will effect how things will treat your guild. It's also pretty self explainitory that personal fame will effect how different groups in the game will treat you personally. And Civ fame is how the particular race looks at your race on a whole. So that leaves the question, what exactly does Global fame do?

I believe the only value NPCs react to is your "Global" fame. Think of it more a s "Total", so even though the Trykers distrust the Fyros (-8 Civie) and your guild as well (-25 for example), if you max out your personal fame with them (+100) your global would be +67, so Tryker NPCs would react favorably to you.

Does that make sense?

That does indeed make sense. But this leads into another question. I currently have a +63 global fame with the Icon Worshippers and a +63 fame with the Kami. Both are bright blue in color. I would assume this means they view me in a very good light. However I still can't get the Icon's merchant and outpost mission giver to talk to me. If global fame is the only one that really matters, how high do I have to get it before they talk to me?

Missions are also based on your level, not just fame. Go level up a skill to 100 and some to 150 and you can get missions from certain NPCs

Some NPCs only respond if you're a certain level. There may be other factors involved too, shrugs.
