Patch 1: Tryker-area lag fix

Cerest, are there any plans to address the Tryker mainland lag in Patch 1? I know some people with uber systems have relatively no issues, but I know a lot of people who are... and it's not network-related. I, myself, have a perfectly decent machine but this area is soooo choppy compared to n00bland. Here's my system and settings; I think you'll see that it's not on my end:

AMD Athlon XP 1.4GHz
1GB DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9200XT 128MB

1152x864 resolution
32b textures
Direct3D
'normal' quality settings
AA & Anisotropy disabled
EAX enabled

I'm going to try OpenGL and the alternative reference drivers tonight, but why should I have to do this if it worked beautifully in n00b land? Feedback would be appreciated, because if it's not going to be addressed, I don't have the dough to buy better equipment and continue playing this game. If it is, I'll just wait for a while and harvest my butt off (since it doesn't require movement).

Why are you so sure it's not on your end? You have a nice amount of RAM, but neither your video card or your processor are appreciably above the *bare minimum* requirements. They're good enough.. but there's really no reason to expect anything other than choppy play.

Also, I think the fact that 'other people with uber systems' do not have this problem conclusively proves that it is not on the server end. What other ends are there? :D

I do feel your pain, though. My game goes kinda choppy whenever I get near Fairhaven. =(

Yea, ok I guess I did contradict myself there didn't I... but man, I'd have to buy a new mobo, processor, and video card just to play this game smooth? Anyone have suggestions for settings that would make it run AND still look decent? Otherwise, I'm outty. WoW is less than a month away, and I know that Blizzard's games both look beautiful AND run smooth. That's why I think it's a problem with the graphics engine and not my machine.

Why do people always think that just cause you got a radeon video card you think its super good? An ATI 9200 card is the equivalent to a geforce 4 MX card not a true ti4200 or 4600 card for example.

Either you but a true radeon 9700pro and up, or buy a geoforce ti4200 card or better.

Go on the internet and you can pick up a nice geforce 4 TI4200 card from PNY for like 40-50u.s. I guarantee you most games will work awesome. Definitely alot better than a ati 9200 or even a 9600 card.

I dont mean to insult ati in anyway, but i build systems for a living and i see all sorts of computers all the time.

p.s. run adware and spybot 1.3 to clean out your machine as well and you will see major improvements, both files can be found on downloads.com for free. Dont forget to update them after install.

It was laggy for me when I was playing and I have:

1 GB Corsair matched (two 512s) low latency ram
2800+ Athlon XP
Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card
Cable modem (with sustained downloading of 400 kilobytes/s)

Don't forget to run scandisk/chkdsk. Seems ever since I've installed Ryzom I've been getting lots of errors on my drive. I've been running it at least once a week since I've installed.

I have the 9600SE 128MB card and it runs beautifully. D3D and everything.

I have a 9200 and everything works fine at 1200 resolution (at work cant check which) at the highest settings until I get into town. I normally run them aronud mid and that's fine for me. I also run internet radio sometimes and cut the settings down to minimum. This is when I'm harvesting / reading a book.

Well I have the following:

Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz cpu
BFG Tech 6800 GT OC video
1 gig memory
Western Digital SATA drives

I'm able to run with everything set on high in Fairhaven, but it does seem like at times its not as smooth as noobville island. I'm just not sure if that has to do with the scenery around Fairhaven or all of the NPCs. Since its only around Fairhaven that I've experienced that, its likely all of the NPC's have something to do with it. Just my two cents worth...
